I went back in and cleaned the Combustion chamber up where it blends into the VJ and cartridge rolled it and the runner and picked up a bit here and there. There is still some more Air flow left in them. At a later date I will go after it when life allows it 1)70 2)128 3)185 4)231 5)272 .550)283 6)291
I would guess another 49 CFM max around .650" lift, anything after that would probably need epoxy or welding. Really decent numbers without touching the runners yet, if I read your posts right? What were the out of the box numbers you got?
1)70 2)128 3)185 4)231 5)272 .550)283 6)291 Lift.....CFM flow .100......70 .200.....128 .300.....185 .400.....231 .500.....272 .550.....283 .600.....291
The air flow carried all the way through the lifts and past .750 lift gaining air flow without crashing. This is a pretty impressive head with a lot of potential for the SBB. Sorry about the quality of the pic's, I bought a fancy camera to replace the broken old camera that took great pic's and haven't figured the new one out yet.
If you have a smart phone, their cameras are usually kick azz.. haven't used the Cannon in 12 years or more.
Ported Exhaust results (Without a Pipe) : .100)58 .200)100 .300)133 .400)156 .500)179 .550)187 .600)192 The air sounds clean trough all the lifts. On a 355 cube sbb these heads should have the potential to support up NA 550hp+ on a street/strip type build and 610hp+ on a race type NA build. I really like the quality of these heads, Really nicely designed Combustion chamber, the bowl is big and allows for a wide short turn, and another important thing with these heads is the runner cc's are a fair bit bigger than the factory head. The exhaust flows well without much work and its clean air which is a sign of a well designed port also. I think they are well thought out head and quality all around is great.. I can't wait to see you guys posting your kick ass small block builds with these heads. These new heads and intake are going to up the 350 buick game big time.
Got the phone call this morning that my heads are done, so they are packed and on their way! I'll see if I can post the pdf of my flow sheet in a subsequent message.
Your heads turned out great! The flow numbers are higher than TA was projecting for the stage 1 porting option.
Not at least getting the entry level porting, is, well, just plain foolish. It is worth a lot of air flow on the BBB heads, I'd expect much the same from the 350 heads.
So the results that Darron posted above are the stage 1, or the "clean-up" port job? (Says stage 1) Is the stage 1 port job worth it?
Yes that was the $700 porting job listed above. I would say it’s worth it. I’m sure my porting will be $1500, but that’s a whole different level.
This thread is why I still have 2 350’s complete in the garage. I have no idea what one might go in but I’m thinking something small n light. I’ll keep following!, Cliff
