there's a very good chance that floor pan is badly rusted due to that floor mat. it wont be obvious until the floor mat is pulled up
That's exactly what I have been looking for, a 64 or 65 total plain Jane post. Too bad I recently bought my wife a CTS V or I'd probably buy it.
Normally I am all for original, but in this cars case I think original “looking” would do. Nobody would need to know it had an LS engine and a 6 speed and some suspension upgrades right? You can hang those coiled shocks on your living room wall.....
Thats a well preserved twin to the BADLASS. That one was pampered, mine got the botox; and it didnt take LOL...Shoulda called mine Joanie, as in Joan Rivers! Whew!! Pat
It looked good; - and yes, I've had cars with those crappy floor mats, and what I've found is that they tend to swell with water, sunlight and movement. They're porous rubber after all. But the floors on my cars weren't badly rusted as a result, so you never know. But this one would have to end up on a hoist, and the underside attacked with a pick hammer just to be sure, especially for the kind of coin they're asking for this thing. Preserved museum pieces only go so far, and they usually aren't driveable until a lot of remedial work gets done.
Not bad for the $$$. I'd just pull the rubber floor, replace it with carpet and add rear seatbelts if it doesn't have them. Then, drive it.
Hers the background story... interesting! https://www.hagerty.com/articles-vi...s-64-buick-special-taught-me-base-model-charm
The owner of this car is a good friend of mine. I haven’t seen the car in person but I know it’s clean and original. Talked him out of putting a big block in it. He bought the car in southern Michigan and drove it to Traverse City Michigan. Told me it ran like a Swiss clock.
