I was going to do a refurb on my red steering wheel, but it may be too far gone. Taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone has one in decent shape? Thanks

I am pretty sure the 1964-66 steering wheels were the same in several a-bodies, only the horn bars were different.

Can you post pictures of yours?

If it is, Koch's did a "group run" set up by Loren Alexander of 65GS.com (and also member here "la-65-gs")

They have a mold (full removal of old plastic, and recast) for that wheel and do excellent work, but you will need to send the horn bar along with the wheel, and they will color match to paint of fabric/vinyl sample.

    Call Teresa at 661-268-1341.

I believe I found this thread in archives. I thought people were still paying $1400+ for this route? I'd be happy with a slightly cracked donor to repair!!

As a "group", we paid about $400 for black (65 GS standard color) or painted.

Dennis (Wheelz) had one done shortly after the group buy. But I think he sweet talked Teresa into the same price.

In any event, if you want it done well, that would be the route to go. Other's I looked into that were full recast jobs, would run almost $1500 with tax and shipping, and several months lead time.

Nick, I had two done by Kochs, when the 65GS.com did the group run. one for may red 65 GS and one for my blue 66 GS. Early run ones had problems with to much material under the horn bar area and it would not fit. Kochs paid the round trip shipping and repaired both of mine at no charge. I sent the horn bars with mine for the final fitting and both are very nice. A very good place to deal with.

$400. Also from the 65GS.com group buy from Koch’s.
