That Cowl look scary. I am hoping mine is not that bad when I get the glass out and the top off. I see in the original picture the under rear seat area was cropped. I bet that was special. I wonder, is it a factory thing to use black tar/roofing stuff under the rear seats? Under the sound proofing? I bet it wasn't. Probably someone's attempted repair in my car. Looking forward to seeing this come together, looks like it will be a special car.
you know the car is rusty when you have to piece back together. I would have said either no or this will take forever make it right.
Up on stands ready for action,..the 70 chevelle is moving along as well,..will post pics later this week on it,..the 69 ragtop will look like a car here again soon
Had to do some modification on the AMD 1/4 on the chevelle,...had to take 3/8 of length,...level up the leading edge,...and move it over a tank gap,...normally you wouldn't see the weld seam but I've gotta build it up to meet the trunk,...so no need to worry about metal finishing it
This is the stuff guys don't see when you charge $1500 to 2k to hang a 1/4 panel on these cars,...they are rarely plug and play
Wheels houses,. Trunk drop offs,..and the LH 1/4 are really nice on this donor,...the RH 1/4 is an NoS that was brazed on many years ago,..so not sure it it stays or just weld it in correctly,..depends on fitment,. Rear tail panel was garbage so another one has to be cut from another donor
Will go on the new one piece floor as an assembly,...then cowl will go on,...taking measurements from another vert I have here,..then o ce the cowl is burned in I'll hang doors and fit the rear clip
Doing g 1/4s on this one also,...using buts and pieces from different cars,...to make one solid one This one I flanged,...mainly because it was a used 1/4 that was put in at the crest line,...so a flange gives it more strength and less prone to warping,...just a driver car so no real need to get all anal about a perfect butt weld here,....will need to massage the metal in a few places and then a coat of epoxy followed by so e duraglas
