Jarrod, I got the body bushings from Todd at, Stage 1 Restoration.com They are specifically for the A body cars but the quality seems really good. Once the body comes off, you are heading down the rabbit hole....I just realized I pulled the body off in 2017 but don’t regret how long this has taken time and money wise. There’s only one way to do a Buick...no shortcuts. Good luck
Thanks, yeah I’ve been down that rabbit hole with the countless number of customers thought the cars they were bringing me were simple paint jobs. Can of worms has been my normal every time I worked on these northern cars. But 38 years doing something I love makes it manageable. This will be the first car for me.
Sounds like You know what your in for...Go for it then Jarrod & good luck, keep us posted. The big cars are really starting to get noticed.
Once I get started I will be posting a new thread to highlight the build. It’s going to be a build to tribute my dad (Joe Buick), he loved the 70 Electras.
Ahhh man I can already picture it, it's gonna look pretty sharp and sexy Gord, are you painting the parts or having them all powder coated?
It's going to look really nice. Gotta be careful powder coating aluminum wheels. The cure temp of most powder is close to the temp to anneal the aluminum. I've seen it done a lot but also seen issues & there are special SAE criteria/procedures for testing OE aluminum wheels that will ultimately be powder coated.
I think the powder they are using cures at a lower temperature? Good point although, found out the hard way with a new gas tank for my skylark, the solder let go on all the vent lines and filler neck. They don’t do tanks anymore lol.
