Looking for a specific 1970 GS Stage 1

Not sure if this is the right section, but I'm trying to track down a certain car.

My dad bought this car new in Hays, KS and then sold it late 1973 to a party in Pratt, KS.

Just trying to see if it's still out there.
Any help or leads would be awesome!

Wow, neat car. What colors (I thought it was on the window sticker but not seeing it). Unusual w/AC. Unless it was wrecked, I bet it's still out there. The Stage 1 4-sp. cars seem to have a pretty good survival rate.

Hi, I did go to the Stage 1 registry and it looks like the highest Fisher # is 293929 while my Dad's car is 328765. Am i reading that correctly?

 

That's the Fisher Body # that's on the Data Tag on the cowl that's listed on the registry (it's not on the window sticker). You have the serial number. the last digits that would be on the VIN plate (under the windshield). The only way to find it on the registry would be to look at the colors &/or options & unfortunately it's not listed for every car.

I beleive there may be a service that can search nationwide all the DMV's to see if it's in registered. I might have it saved but woukd take me a bit to find it.

 

Ah, i see. What is the body number in the upper right of the window sticker? It says 277095

The body number will actually be on the stage one registry the Vin number will not be.

 

I was thinking bench for more exposure but technically "lost & found" is the right place.

I just checked the registry with the body number on your window sticker looks like your car is not in the registry from the numbers it looks like it was built late May early June 1970. What year and when did he sell the car you may be able to check with DMV beens you have the Vin number.

 

He's thinking he sold it late 1973. I'll have to do some research about searching in DMV databases.

 

Good luck with your search that’s a rare stage one with factory AC. What was the color combination ? that could help with your search here on the board.

 

Thanks! I'm going to get with my dad and get some more specifics. Pretty sure the exterior was brown, but that's about it.

 

Of course it was!!!
(Just kidding, but a lot of our Buicks were brown, gold or green originally).

Funny Patrick - I thought (assumed) it was brown & that I must've read it on the window sticker but then couldn't find it on there. There was a triple brown '70 Stage 1 4-sp for sale a couple years ago in Kansas but it wasn't an A/C car so that, and along w/so many being brown, must've been what got me thinking that. I had a '70 Stage 1 4-sp. that was the best of both worlds - Sherwood Green (I do like green cars) w/a brown top & interior (a non-recommended color combo by Buick).

I had a ‘68 GS that was Burnished Saddle (and a ‘79 T/A in Heritage Brown). Both colors (and the Buick greens) looked great when fresh and shiny, but I wouldn’t have chosen them new.
A coworker would make fun of my T/A being ‘doo doo brown’, then one day he showed up in a brand new Focus painted a Sage Green color (like the color Buick dropped ftom Regals in ‘87 because it wasn’t popular!).
I told him “I went to the used ‘79 T/A 400/4speed T top’ store. They had ONE. It was brown. YOU went to the ‘brand new Ford Focus’ store, where they acres of the little sumbitches, and you CHOSE that color!”
He shut up after that.

They do look good new. Even my green/brown one would've and had I kept it I would've kept it orig.

I've had so many green cars/trucks (at least 5 GS's) - Only one I really sought out was I special ordered my '96 Dodge p/u in green. Oddly enough, the only two '71 GS's I've ever owned were Burnished Cinnamon (a nice brown).
