I have a gear whine that has been happening ever since I installed this rebuilt 12 bolt. It has an Eaton TruTrac, Yukon 3.73 gears and Moser axles. It only makes noise when I'm on the gas. It is quiet on deceleration. I have a picture of the pattern that was provided to me by the builder (not local). Does the pattern look normal or is off to where it would make noise as I described?

Pinion angle or bearing? from the cob webs of my memory bank...

Pinion is too deep and it will do exactly that. How many miles have you put on the rear? You should be able to save it by taking some pinion shim out and reset the backlash.

Probably a 1,000 miles or so. I tolerated it at first but it's starting to take some joy out of driving the car. I have an appt. with a local gear shop to take a look at it. Thanks.

I too have a whining noise on acceleration, but later found out it was my pocketbook whining.

Just a little surprised he left that pattern like that. It wouldn’t take much to adjust that,as long as the gears didn’t try to re-cut themselves.
