Electric choke noise

I found myself to have an interesting problem after swapping my quadrajet to an electric choke. I've been able to cold start my car instantaneously. I find the oil pressure isn't entirely built up when it fires now, giving me a few seconds of engine ticking. Has anyone else had that happen, and is it harder on the engine with startups? I know I should not complain about a carburetor starting too quickly. Haha

Yeah, if you are hearing noise, it can't be good. What oil are you using? Maybe try a different oil filter.

I changed the filter and oil recently with 10w-30. I get normal oil pressure about five seconds from turning the key, and the noise goes away. Monitoring the oil pressure with my electric gauge, everything else seems fine. Could it be worth investigating my oil pump, or would that be unlikely?

Maybe turn the RPM down on the fast idle screw. If it doesn't start as fast, that might help. You could also crank it a little before setting the choke to get the oil moving sooner.

Thank you, that made a difference.
