    Hi,

I am looking at getting the 1970 flat lense reproduction tach for my 1970 Buick GS. Is there two different types, year one and the parts place? Or are they the same.

If they are different, which one is better? It sounds like they are better quality now then when they first came out too.

    Thanks.

    ToddsGS sells the tachometers,

I believe the 1970 GS cars, at least some of them, depending on build date, had the tall numbers compared to the 71 and later. The reproduction tachometers use the shorter numbers.

Here is my original tachometer in my 1970 GS, build date 4th week of January,

    This is the Reproduction tachometer,

Thanks, my car was made April of 1970. Not sure if that matters for number height.

Repro tachs will have the shorter font, regardless of the lens

I thought there were a couple different repros at one time - One that was more correct (something w/the visible screws maybe). Don't really keep too in tune w/the repro parts market and maybe the 1st version isn't even made anymore.

I received it from the parts place. Was it supposed to come with wiring? I only received the tach. I didn't have a tach previously, just the fake plate.

It doesn't have any wires at all?

No wires. Just the tach. Maybe it is a packaging issue or they sell them seperately?

What's the back of the tachometer look like? The stock one had just one spade connector for the signal wire. The case grounded to the dash. Sounds like the Repros are the same. In that case, you don't need anything else, just buy some brown primary wire (14 gauge), some crimp connectors, and run the wire.

There are two connections to the back. One runs to the coil and the other a power source. I was supposed to buy a harness with the parts place tach, just looked it up.

That's nothing you can't make yourself.

I can just buy it for 20 bucks. I can make it myself however, time is money and I don't keep wiring laying around so would need to go the store, measure, make, etc. I appreciate it everyone.

First off . . . Thank You guys for all the referrals. Much appreciated.

TPP reproduces the In Dash Tachs and they're much nicer than earlier versions that were on the market.

They do NOT come with any wiring or instructions for that matter. They have 2 Wires to hook up (Unlike the OEM Versions which just have one wire)

I offer these with a nice GM Style harness that I make here at my shop. TPP (or any other vendors will not offer the wiring) Mine also come with instructions even though there are only 2 wires to hook up. (I use to get calls all the time asking which wires go where so . . . . . .)

I sell them without the wiring also.
And BELOW the RETAIL PRICE !!

    Here's some photos . . . .

I also stock the Factory Grommets if needed!

The Reproduction Tach's utilize a 12 Volt Keyed Source also:

The Wiring Harness can be purchased separately also:

I wired my tach up and nothing works. Negative from the coil to the back and supplied power. Any ideas why it isn’t reading???

    Try grounding the tachometer housing.
