Was bored today, so I bolted my Q Jet back on my SP3 and gonna see how it behaves It fired right up, no shenanigans after sitting in a box for a few years. Haven’t run the Q Jet with the higher comp, and roller cam( new combo) yet. Gonna try and make it to the track this week
Damn Mark, If I'd of known you had all this boring free time, I'd of had you come over and put my brake proportioning valve on and bleed the whole system....while I feed you beers and watch... I imagine you'll be offing that unresponsive Quick Fuel now.
I'm going to have a beer to cheer..... Both you and Kevin for being persistant in your q-jet endeavors....
Ken from everyday performance even made a Q jet work for a blow through turbo setup on a 350. If I remember correctly he had about 10 hours into the turbo instal and about 40 hours into timing the carb... vs dropping on a CSU Holley that would be almost perfect out of the box, that’s commitment!
LOL Glutton for punishment Knowing what I know now which isnt much more than before Im going to try to tune out the bog when slamming to WOT. Who knows, the Q-Jet might be too lean for 11.1 to 1 with iron heads and it might turn into a rattle fest, I dont know but I'll find out
Hook up your leaf blower to the QJet and turn it on the same time you mash the gas, home made turbo Hey don't laugh it works!! you can hold the blower on the door or duck tape it to the door handle!
You should have put a nitrous plate on there instead of that Q-Jet Sell it and you have half the money for a plate! gonads required
Im still lovin' my Q-Jet The throttle response is instantaneous. Quick flick of the key and shes idling. Picked up a couple inches of vacuum at idle in gear, now its 11" Havent really tried the bog issue yet in the city. I have a feeling its still there, on the highway, I floored it briefly, went from 70 to 100 mph kinda fast so I backed out of it, but I could feel the transition into the secondaries, a slight nose over till they started drawing fuel ( secondary side) Gonna tighten the air doors a bit more for fun
yes if you put the rake in front of the grill it will cause the air to enter faster you will have to jet up for this.
Plastic or metal rake? I have both I think the tines are wider on the plastic, so maybe the metal would allow more airflow
