I love the Electra especially with those ET's. The question is, were they with the N2O or without? Anyway you look at it was great because it was so quiet when the exhaust was closed.
My memory is foggy, but did some us guys swap the engine out of your Centurion in Columbus about 12-13 years ago? Am I dreaming?
Awesome, thanks for putting up the pictures. I'm getting married this weekend, so there was absolutely no way I could get down there. I'd really like to go next year, if I'm not overseas.
In '85 (maybe was '86) a couple got married at the Nationals. Took a trip down the track sitting up on the back of a '69 GS convertible IIRC. I know someone has a picture of this! I saw ine on here not that long ago.
I've owned two 1970 GS cars in my 49 years. Both were first owned by my father. My dad attempted his first trip to the Nationals in 1987, but the car had electrical issues and didn't make it past Angola, Indiana. Mom to the rescue with the Park Avenue so we still were able to attend. In 1988 dad and I made it to the Nationals in this white GS. He even let me drive down the track once that year. In 1989 the timing chain broke on the way to Bowling Green, so once again mom to the rescue but no GS. I made a trip with my son in 2019, but that Saturday ended pretty early due to rain. Finally in 2022 I was able to bring the white GS to the Nationals and the weather was great. If there is a better way to spend money besides spending it on old cars, I'm not interested.
Must've been '85 as that was the last year the GS Nationals shared the event with the muscle car shootout. In '86 it became the stand-alone event it still is today. That was also the only year that the show was in the mall parking lot ('85 was my first year). Previously it was in the Holidome parking lot and subsequently at the campground. I wasn't there from '98-16 so not sure when it moved to the circle track.
