Here is a link to the Streetside car (red convert). It is the same car that Fat Rusty had inspected when it was at Harwood Motors, as I remember reading the inspection report and discussing it with him. https://www.streetsideclassics.com/vehicles/3391-nsh/1970-buick-gs-455-convertible Comments: THERE WAS LIGHT PAINT COVERAGE AND LOW FILM BUILD UP ON THE LOWER 8”-10” OF THE SIDE PANELS AND THESE AREA ALL SHOWED MODERATE TO HEAVY ORANGE PEEL. THERE WERE SCRATCHES AND BRUSH TOUCHED AREAS ON ALL OF THE PANELS. THERE WERE VISIBLE SOLVENT POPS IN THE CLEAR COAT ON THE RIGHT REAR QUARTER PANEL. THERE WAS BODY FILLER FOUND IN THE HOOD, BOTH REAR QUARTER PANELS AND THE DECK PANEL. THE LEFT QUARTER PANEL APPEARED TO HAVE HAD A PARTIAL PANEL REPLACEMENT WITH POOR FINISH WORK ON THE BOTTOM LIP. THE INNER FENDER WELLS HAD MULTIPLE POOR-QUALITY PATCHES AND AN AREA THAT HAD BEEN CUT OUT AND THE PATCH WAS NEVER INSTALLED. THE RIGHT QUARTER PANEL HAD BEEN PATCHED AND THERE WAS VISIBLE IMPACT DAMAGE ON THE INSIDE OF THE TRUNK WHERE THE PANEL HAD BEEN STRAIGHTENED. BOTH REAR QUARTER PANELS HAD BODY FILLER SQUEEZED THROUGH INTO THE FACTORY DRILLED HOLES FOR EMBLEMS. THE TOPS OF BOTH QUARTER PANELS WHERE THEY MEET THE DECK FILLER PANEL HAVE BODY FILLER BUBBLING UP AND CRACKING. THE TRUNK FLOOR PAN HAD BEEN REPLACED AND THE TRUNK LATCH WAS POORLY WELDED BACK IN PLACE. THE HOOD GAPS AND ALIGNMENT WAS TERRIBLE AND THE SCOPE TRIM WAS GLUED IN PLACE AND WAS MISSING FASTENERS. THE HOOD WEATHER STRIPING AT THE FIREWALL WAS MISSING. THE SIDE WINDOWS HAD SCRATCHES BODY WORK AND CONTACT WITH THE WEATHER STRIPPING
Interesting-there shouldn’t be emblem holes in the rear quarters for Bondo to have been squoze through. Patrick
Naturally it was originally paint code 50, Bamboo Cream, and has now been repainted resale red. You've got to wonder why someone said to themselves "hmmm, I think this GS emblem will look real good right here.." Even if you didn't know anything about the correct emblem placement on the door panel of a '70 GS with deluxe interior, and don't want to do a Google search to see where it should be placed, why would you put it in this location? Even my 10-year-old would say this looks strange here since it's not centered vertically or horizontally. Don't get me wrong, I think this car looks good in the photos, but the other inspection details above do sound a bit scary for $60k.
Guess you don’t get much for 60k. I’m still going to look at it just to make me feel better about mine. Lol
The left & right sides of the trim tag look tampered with to me. The right side rivet looks especially odd.
I mean, as a rule there aren't too many good deals to be had at those kind of places. In light of this this one would be a terrible deal.
This is a typical abortion that these muscle car dealers try to flip. They all look good in the pictures, until you actually look at them. Hopefully that is not after you bought it sight unseen and is now parked in your driveway. Here another Buick. I think Gateway has this one. After looking at this door, you don’t need to look at anything else. You know what you are getting. Absolute junk.
Headlight doors aren't painted,.....just sayin haha,...makes me absolutely sick to my stomach that I couldn't sell my orange car as a roller for 10k,....or at 45k with a 1khp supercharged setup setting on weld RTs,.....better car than 90% out there and I had to give it away
