might have time to swing by an estate auction saturday .
some carbs and hot roddy kinda stuff , probably tools etc .
looking over pics i see what looks to be an oem nailhead 2x4 setup . has 2 carters on it , rear has choke , front does not , but i could not see carb #'s . needs a good cleaning minimum but ok .
    value on that ?

Up to $1200 would be a safe buy.
Intake prices have been going up, they were $300 10 years ago, now they're in the $800 range.
Carbs are easily $200 each if they're rebuildable. Linkage is another $100+.

a little dirty , no linkage
but kinda complete , oem lookin'
    we'll see maybe
    depends on the buyer turnout

see if you can find the air cleaner it's worth a lot too.

rear carb # did not seem to match up from my carter catalog info . front carb looked ok . had dual snorkel chrome air cleaner with it . looked ok also .
went up to about $550 . i was on it for awhile but with the carb number thing i dropped . the other bidder was aggressive and bidding up .
i didn't notice at first but also had a nailhead 6-71 weiand blower manifold ! i bid a little on that , i think went in the $250-$300 range . wasn't sure if i should have gone more , probably .
the guy had a bunch of stuff - fiberglass corvette body panel molds , magnetos , miller mig welder cart setup , NOS corvette BBC exhaust manifolds and intakes and new holley 3x2 holley carb etc .

    Hi,

You didn't mention the air cleaner was included, seen those alone go for 300-2000 depending upon condition, whoever got a deal even if the carbs were wrong.

Blower manifold would be cool, but expensive project to get it working in a car.

    Regards,
    Jim

Blower setups are cheap in relation to finding a good intake. I'd of gone to 600 anyway on the blower intake.

Yeah , I had a number in my head , didn't want to go over . Can't afford to sit on $$$ .
And the blower intake was a kinda quick surprise , no think time . Plus the other bidder was throwing money at stuff pretty crazy on both things .
Also they had a brand new AC Cobra bare frame . Start bid went down to $200 I think , no bites . Serious food for thought .
Early vette sbc headers and down pipes to side pipe mufflers , looked kinda new , $60 sold .

I have been offered $800 for my really good dual quad air filter setup. I said no.

this one was "fair" condition i think . wish i'd seen that in ad pics so i could have figured ahead of time a little better .
i am a pretty cautious bidder , probably borderline cheap !

I've passed on a lot of stuff because I'm the same way. You never really know until afterwards. I don't seem to be "that guy" where deals are concerned.

Yep - do you need it or do you just want it .

These are toys, nobody "needs" them. Sometimes the "want" can be pretty intense though.
