Installed this last week. Very easy with complete instructions. Engine starts easily in 40* weather. Adjusted the fast idle speed screw to 1500 RPM. Easily kicks down to about 1000 RPM, and it will idle in gear dead cold. Very pleased. Highly recommended.

Where did you guys pull power for your choke? Is there some spot under the hood to tap or do I need to come from the fuse box ign terminal?

    I went to IGN

I used one of these two red wires on my 750 Holley that had an electric choke.. I think one went to TCS, the other idk. Not important as chokes are over-rated.:D

I think mine had TCS. There is something wrapped up that probably went to a temp sensor in the old intake that was blocked off. I'll have to check to see if it is 12v IGN. Great idea.

I was fortunate enough to have one of Ken's intitial units for development testing. It was easy to install, the engineering was spot on and it worked just like it should. Opens up a lot of applications for the daily use of a quadrajet, including Nailheads, High Rise single planes and the Dual Q-Jet set up..

I agree Mart! Living in South Florida we don’t need any stinking chokes. Two of my cars don’t even have a choke plate in the front of the carburetor. They still start fine when it’s cold out, which isn’t very often, and I use my foot on the throttle as my fast idle. :)

While I don't drive in the winter, I wanted a choke to see how it works. I also can start my cars with a little extra babying of the throttle but I'd prefer to start it and let them handle it on their own.

I found two wires that have 12v (11.75v) when the key is on. One went to the transmission and detected 3rd/4th gear. The other is unknow but is very close the temp sensor/carb area. It also has 12v when the key is on but it has this weird resistor in it. I think I'm going to clip the resistor to see if one of them goes dead or what happens. It was all taped up and unused. Maybe the fast idle solenoid for a stick car?

That's the Transmission Controlled Spark connection for the vacuum solenoid. Definitely use that.

Good deal. The new trans doesn't have that connection any way so that's a bonus.

OK, found something interesting with a test light. The second pic of the dual plug with a resistor feeds the TCS transmission side plug. When I clipped the resistor, that gets hot by the way, the TCS and the other leg stopped having voltage. I rekeyed the plug so I could plug in the electric choke and it appears to be working.

When I mentioned TCS, I meant throttle control solenoid. IDK, it's been quite a while and would have to pull out the service manual. No choke = no wired connection needed....:)

It fired and runs! Break-in done. Test drive as soon as we get the exhaust buttoned up.

Ordered the kit today. I'm tired of feathering the gas pedal to warm up the car. Want to be able to just turn the key and let the car do its thing.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

The factory choke and bimetal thermostat will do that if properly set up and adjusted.

Yeah, I'm sure it would if I still had the original intake manifold.

Yes, but the thermostatic coils get rusty and tired, and there is no aftermarket reproduction for them. If you have an aluminum intake, this electronic one is the better option.
