I have the original 2bbl carb and I was thinking about the TA performance kit TA_1235P. I was advised that there are better options. Whats everyone's opinion? Also, do I need to replace the valley pan when I replace the intake? Thanks guys

For a mild engine the TA intake isn’t much of an upgrade. If you can find a factory 4 barrel intake in your area that would be a good option with a rebuilt Q jet. I’ve got a fresh rebuilt pro done q jet calibrated for a stock 350 I could sell. I would be willing to bet $ that on a stock 350 the factory intake and fresh Q jet would match a TA intake and Holley or edelbrock carb for much less $. More mpg with a Q jet. I do like the electric chokes adapted onto the Q jet.

Headers or camshaft would give better gains.

Yes, an iron 4bbl intake would be the cheapest option.
    Where are they hiding?

Iron intake Q-Jet is your best option.

If you find an intake & need a shipping quote, lmk. I get good rates & have saved some guys a bunch of $ shipping them.

Sean sold a bunch of 'em to someone recently.

I have the original 4 bbl intake from my GS, but shipping would be crazy

It's not that bad. If you guys make a deal on it, send me the shipping/receiving zip codes & I'll get a quote.

Is the stock 4barrel better than the TA? Or the same? I dont mind getting the new one from TA if there is no advantage to having the stock one. How much is a Q jet?

You prefer stock over TA manifold? The price difference doesn't bother me. Thanks for the opinion.

So, stock manifold and a rebuilt Q jet is my top option?

Wash to their own, many of us prefer the stock intake and Q jet. Other people prefer the Holley and Ta intake it’s preference.

I don't think you're getting much performance increase on a stock engine (maybe 10 HP) although there is some weight savings.

Mine is port matched to a set of ported heads. Do you think it will work? The stock head ports will be smaller than my intake.
My take is The TA intake may not make much more power but it is a hell of a lot lighter and you can use ANY carb you want and NOT limited to the Q-Jet cause THAT is the only carb you can use. Plus cools off a heck of a lot faster why would you not want this??
Don't you start with a intake and then you get the headers then you decide to put in a cam, now you need all these parts to make the first ones work better.
What a bunch of Debby downers on the TA intake.
I'll sell it want to buy it? I'll take it off the John Deere lol

Maybe 10 more HP and 30 lbs. off the front of the engine doesn't that make you go faster?

Yes, which is why I said "much" and not none:).

Yup, that's where I started in '86 on my 1st incremental 350 build (I may have done headers 1st or done intake/headers together). It depends what the OP's long term goals are.
