I actually made these seat belt labels myself so they had the exact same date codes as the originals. IMG_6522.jpeg

Am I reading this right, the timeline suggests this has been a 9 year restoration? If that’s true, you have 8 more years of patience than I do!
    Congratulations!

    What a beautiful GS

Thanks. The time it took is more a measure of how fast I could spend money, not how long it took to restore the car! It is pretty much perfect though.

Congrats Stacey, glad to see this complete and back at home.. I went back and looked, I completed the built on motor and trans for it in 2017... wow.. time flies..

Those who are in a rush to do a complete resto, need to consider buying one done... because as you now know, nothing comes cheap or easy in that endevour..

But you have now what no quicky used car buyer ever will, and that is the satisfaction of starting with a dream, and seeing it thru to reality. Can't put a price (or timeframe) on that.

Have fun with it, and don't be afraid to drive it a little.. having driven cars like yours, they are enjoyable, being basically brand new..

Thanks Jim! for as big as that cam is I can't believe how well mannered it is...once it's warmed up. It's a little grumpy at startup with the heat cross overs blocked off and basically no choke. One it's warmed up it it runs smooth as silk with a quite a bit of exhaust bark. Perfect.

I took photos of the original labels and imported them into Keynote (any word processor software should work).
    1. I scaled the photo up to the correct size and used it as guide to make the new label.
    2. I had to make the GM symbol from scratch by adding and subtracting graphic shapes like ovals and squares.
    3. I found matching fonts for the rest of the text but had to modify the spacing to match the original.
    4. The date code and model number appear to have been stamped on so I simulated that by making that text a little bit cockeyed and using a lighter grey instead of black.
    5. The originals appears to have been printed on some kind of plastic coated paper (not cloth) and so I bought a bunch of papers on amazon until I found something similar.
    6. Last step was to just print them on an inkjet printer. I sent the new labels to SSnake Oyl with my original belts when I had them restored.

    Piece of cake!

If anyone needs a similar set of General Safety labels, I can whip up another set. Send me your photos.

Just got back from MCACN. My car got Concourse Gold. 975 points out of 1000 - thanks mostly to Rich's hard work, attention to detail, and knowledge of these cars.

Most of the deductions were for things that are easy to fix. We forgot the emissions label. Some fasteners were the wrong finish. Incorrect spare tire cover. I'll be fixing that stuff over the winter.

    Stacey,

Was nice meeting you at MCaCN, you and Rich did a great job on the car, it looked fantastic! Check out this door to fender gap!

I spoke with Rich regarding that spot, and he mentioned that the fender had to be split horizontally along the peak and brought in a little bit, and the inner structure at the corner needed to be folded in to allow the door to slide under the fender when opening. Fun stuff!

Been there/done that but they sure do look nice when the gaps are optimized.
