Mine leaks oil so bad they wouldn't let me anywhere near the track. Even if they did I'd have to stop at the 660' mark to put more oil in it!

Yea, that was fun filler during the shutdown before racing.....

Funny thing Dave, my family had a horse of that variety when I was 12 or so. Ornery bastard. I remember him bucking my Dad right off. Mom could ride it though. I guess growing up on a horse farm in Kentucky will do that to you.

Keith, I had a Whippet that would kick your Fords A!

Well.....no it would not have, but it was fun to drive on errands.

I guess this just a I don't like Gonzo fest. Many of you seem to look for ways to get negative comments in about him.Well I dont have any problems with him .I have known Dan Jensen for nearly 20 years from the old days of NMCA.He was as nice then as he today. He is a tough guy to beat on the track too,I never did.I have never been upset by or lied to any race promoter since in the 80's the NMCA days and Chuck. Gonzo has been fair and nice to me and many others. His 60-74 year requirements do reflect the popular muscle car era years as seen by most people. I guess maybee its just a east coast -mid west thing but it is all fun .CAN"T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG :)

Not at all, I am sure Bill is a good guy, in fact I think a few people here have said so over the years.

It's just a shame a guy like Ken builds a car to race under "Factory Stock" rules according to the E-town rules, gets kicked out of "Factory Stock" because he did his homework too well, then wants to follow the FAST racers to Martin and cannot participate in "Factory Stock" there because the rules are different. So now Ken has spent a ton of money building a non-competative FAST car that will stil have issues with the FAST rulebook, where can he race that car now ??

All of which was pointed out when Bill was putting together a rulebook for E-town years ago. Guys from here can not travel to his race and guys from his race cannot travel here. Which is not good for either race, and will only confuse people looking to get involved.

    A clip of my resume.

I've known Dan for 18 years, attended some NMCA events in the late '80's and early 90's.

I've completed 9 years of racing at the P/S drags which has been around for 12+ years and am building my 4th car for this event.

Neither of my cars are legal at the Gonzo race and a whole lot of other P/S cars are not either. Even if you have a 100% legal car for that race if you hit an arbitrary ET you are bumped to F.A.S.T.

Look for ways to get negative comments in on Gonzo.

No... .... I just really like the way he has made it easier to participate. :TU: :Dou:

    CJFORD,
I hope you don't think I'm ragging on Bill for the fun of it.Bill is not a bad guy he has just made a few bad decisions in my opinion.I don't think he should be banking on getting the show car guys up off their chairs and go out of your way to exclude the core group.Makes very little sense to me.Hey its his race he can ruin it anyway he wants.Making guys spend money twice isn't gonna make them happy or keep them around. Why would you go against the grain?I know the bickering looks and is terrible but what could I do.I am trying to make things better for everyone.

How many of you guys would come out to the east coast for a race in the fall with all th p/s rules in place?

Maybe i have not been following this thread close enough.but how can you have a car legal for PSMCDR,and not have it legal for Gonzos race???Everyone, has there own definition of what "STOCK" is,and if your stocker gets in the 11,s at Gonzo,s,and your bumped to FAST,WHO CARES!! Its the same prize at the end of the day. Some people take this too seriously, its about having fun, with some people who have the same interests as you.I for one am going to put Gonzo,s race on my list of things to do next year. :TU:

I think if everybodys car was a real as shipped PURE stocker it would be legal in Michigan or in NJ.When you build a car to take advantage of all the things in the rules it isn't legal for the other groups race. That is fine most know this going in my car fits either .I put it together mostly with the Stanton race in mind but it is legal to race in NJ also. I like to race and enjoyed the group of people in NJ.I only wish they had the track to ourselves and would gladdly pay more to do that next time.I didn't build a car to be the absolute fastest car at either I just want to make a good showing and have fun.If I had the fastest Ford in my class I would be happy . Not to be disrespectful or appear to run people down but I see many of the times shown by guys in their responces in this ongoing debate and it dosen't seem like those guys are running so fast that their cars would not be likely to be legal in NJ so what is the big gripe.I know Dan is a class act all the way and is very popular with the racers.I am happy to have known him as long as I have.I don't see the races in NJ overtaking the Michigan events any time soon or most likely ever .Its not a competition between the groups racers its a competition for the racers.Haveing a favourite is cool but bad mouthing the other isn't.Maybee if the groups used the same rules it would be nice but some guys would still find things to complain about.

No the two groups aren't in competition.
And yes, it would have been nice if the new guy would have followed suit, and taken long standing rule's and put them into effect, which would have saved us about 7 pages and 0ver 150 post's on this B.S.

There would be no fingerpointing or Badmouthing if it wasn't brought upon by poor planning/decision making.

So I guess Pure Stock and F.A.S.T. can co-exist today, after many years of heated debates which was finally resolved by F.A.S.T. adopting the Pure Stock rules in their entirety. Hemmings can have the East coast to put on the Musclepaloozer event, and Gonzo can have the FS event out there.

There, 2 events for each set of rules. Everyone should be happy with that.
The East coast guy's can stay on the East coast for those event's, or they can build their car to Pure Stock Drag rule's, and participate at several event's other than just what's on the coast.

God please let this unessesary post die a quick death, or maybe we can have another stupid Poll about something.

Goodnight

I tried like hell to get a few guys to head out to the E-town event to spectate, but no one wanted to go because alot of the guys and cars we know would not be there.

I was going to spend my own money to help get a FAST car out to the race, but the other guy going bowed out when he found out we'd be driving all night to get there to make 3 passes on Saturday and then turn around and head home.

If the Vette had not eaten a valve, I might have had a chance to be there, now I am guessing I would not be welcome.......I can't even get on the website to look at the pictures on the upcoming Boss 429 FAST entry :error:

So, I am guessing I would not travel to E-town to get disqualified for performance enhancing and illegal muffler bearing boosters ..........

Because someone questions your rules , Or disagrees with your train of thought you ban them ?? Seems childish to me if this is such a great guy why would he do that ? I went to his site checked out the forum and his posts dominates the threads, Seems a bit controlling, this whole thing stinks bad...

I forgot that Gonzos race was not exclusive to musclecars.I heard he was trying to go for 2 days.It would have to be 2 days musclecar exclusive,to warrent the expense.Since i do not ever see myself having an 11 second stock car,i will not have to worry about that rule.Would be fun to race at a different track. :)
