Is that how the factory installed the tach ?? Seems like they shoved a Buick tach into the dash !

I don't know if the tach is on the steering column because maby it has the consolete instead of the full console?
The old Car Life and Motor Trend test cars had the full console and tach on it plus the shifter was way different, straight up bar and further back and more in the bucket seat area.

    Is that flat shifter correct?

    Hi,

Looks correct, taller version of the A-body one shape wise at least (64-early 65 before they went to Muncie shifter).

    Regards,
    Jim

The tach has been added and it looks like an oil pressure gauge was installed in the dash behind it. Everything else is exactly how it came from the factory. It's an early production car. Everything checks out. It's a legit numbers matching Super WildCat 4 speed. I've come to the conclusion that it's too rare and deserves restoration which I couldn't do.

I'm not a expert but I've seen in the past that the 63 and 64 Wildcats had two different shifters for manual transmission s. One with full console and one without. And btw I wish I was in the position to buy it. Just my two cents. :)

When the BCA had their National show in Batavia NY there was a 64 with that shifter but a different small shifter console. Dark blue, beautiful car.
I’ve got pictures somewhere…I’ll dig them up tomorrow. The guy that owned it also brought a 66 Wildcat Gran Sport .
Here is me cleaning my 65 at that 2005 show compliments of Smartin . He did not have a pic of the Wildcat but had a great post from back then.

Beautiful 66 Wildcat Gran Sport. Love that color. Wish they offered the 4 speed that year.:)

Unfortunately I'm told there are zero reproduction parts available for the 62-64 Wildcats other than weatherstripping that also fits Impalas. That's a tough scenario

That's unfortunately true; - there's next to nothing available body and trim wise for those cars. Mechanically, yes, there's still good support. But the body and trim would all have to be hunted down used and/or made; - that's why this site is here, the good people at V-8 Buick will usually have some if not most of what one is looking for, or they know where it is.

Otherwise, it's the "thrill of the hunt". You have to run down multiple leads and chase down lots of people and junk to get that one piece you need.

A car like that is a labour of love; you're right, it begs to be done "right". I hope that someone here on this board with the required skills picks it up and turns it back into what it should be.
This car looks very straight and very complete; it's not a rotten s--tbox welding project. Half the battle is won before you even get started...can't go wrong with that!:D

The Catch 22 of a car like this - the rarity demands a stock type restoration, but reality e$$entially gets in the way and you're forever in a compromise.

Here is the car I saw with the more standard shifter and small console. Same interior as car for sale.

I wonder why there's 2 different styles of consoles?

    Hi,

The first console is a 64, I believe the all cast one us a 63, maybe a carry over until the new version came out?

    Regards,
    Jim
