1967 Riviera Sway Bar

I know there are a lot of posts regarding sway bars, but I wasn't able to find the answers to my questions:

Does any know if the sway bar in the 1967 Riviera is different for a GS and non-GS?

Was there a factory installed rear sway bar or was it just the front?

I am looking to buy a 1" PST rear sway bar (SKU: SWAY 933) but may not want to change the stock one in the front; main reason is that the car drives great as it is; very pleased how it handles as it is now.

Is a 1" rear sway bar with a smaller stock one too much of a handling mismatch?

    Thanks.

    Hello Fastd,

I will try to take a stab at this for what it is worth from my probably not so good opinion. The second generation of Riv's from 1966 to 1970 pretty much all used the same body dimensions as well as the frame dimensions. One of this forum's members, Yardley, runs a nice 1969 Riv with a beefy rear sway bar (one inch) on his Riviera GS. Also note he upgraded his front sway bar with a 1 1/8 inch bar as well. Here is a link to Yardley's outstanding web pages.

I installed a rear one inch sway bar on my 1969 Riv but did not upgrade the front sway bar. My Riv is just the entry level non GS model with no enhanced handling or suspension. That said, bigger sway bars are better and my Riv handles like a dream as I paid a guy to completely replace the front end (new upper and lower ball joints and new steering linkages and arms), and and install the rear sway bar. Perhaps Yardley can chime in as well. If you do install the rear sway bar, make sure to have as much clearance as possible from the roadway. The bigger sway bars I think are worthwhile.

    thanks for the reply.

i will try the 1" rear sway bar with the stock front and report back.

still wondering if the '67 gs and non-gs factory sway bars were the same.
