1968 Wildcat Main Ignition Relay

    I'm not sure whether voltage would flow that way from the resistance wire unless that shorting switch provided a ground pathway. Be interesting to check that at the R terminal.

    In any case, I think we are definitely on to something here, the solution to his problem, he just needs to do the leg work.:)

    The ground would be provided with the test light or volt meter. If he tried a known good ignition switch and the problem is still there, it is either a problem with the R wire supply or more than likely, something aftermarket causing the problem.

    Could also have something to do with an Alt. replacement causing feedback or a diff. ignition system that needs a diode to keep the voltage flowing only one way.
    Something else to look at/ponder IF all other checking doesn't come up with anything.

    Hey all, just a follow-up. I still haven't fixed the issue. Life has got in the way. The few times I've ran it in the last year, I've just had to suffocate the engine to stall it out. I've since purchased a new started/solenoid and will be installing soon. I'll keep you posted.
