I have a 1970 Buick GS 455 that’s rusty. The hood is rusted out where the front trim piece is. I have an opportunity to buy a hood that looks to be in great shape and I was hoping to find out the differences between 1970-72 hoods. I know the 72 hood has different hood scoop insert on one side. I noticed on the hood I’m looking at it has a spring towards front and mine doesn’t. I’m replacing trunk and floor pans on another car but the metal on my hood is thin and it might be repairable but burn through will probably be a problem and getting a copper slug behind there will be tricky. Thanks!

The spring in the front is the difference. Scoops are interchangable. Use the good 71/2 hood.

Post a wanted as you may find someone on the board in your general area that has one as well. I think Hugger had some at one point.
