Yeah, my wife thinks so too. I really thought about it and was just about to go look in person since Wally is only about an hour away. But I just didn't do it. Damn and it was the right color combo for me too.

I did text with him , he apparently came across a 39000 mile hemi Satelite that he wanted bad so he sold it to a friend ,,who is selling at Mecum , he is going to have to get huge number to break even , but it’s a auction you never no , I thought real hard about taking it to Indy , but between listing fees selling fees and cost of taking it there I would have had to get 60000 , didn’t think it could bring that much , but will see

I've been there , RK Motors bought a car from me , started telling me he had this in high school , I stopped him and said " I know who you are , and what you're gonna do with this car " highest it went on Ebay was $18k , he gave me $22k , on his site a week later for $29k , sold a week later . ( these were 2008 prices )
In your case , yes, he risks it not making his reserve to break even/make a few $$ ,and having to drag it around to try and sell it , each time it doesn't sell , it will be costing him more and more $$$$ . If it does , oh well . But if I'd have to guess by what I've seen on your for sale thread on this car , I'd say he's full of S#@T , he knew from the start what he was gonna do with this car !!! It was to fast of decision and turn around .

As long as you are happy with how your sale went down, no need to worry about what the next owner does with it or gets for it. Just gotta move on. Sounds like that’s how you’re handling it, Wally.

That pretty much says it , I sold it to him for one reason . He gave me exactly what I wanted for it , easiest sale I ever had , you hope they end with someone that appreciate them as much as we do ,but it is what it is ,one of my main reasons for selling was I wanted to buy and restore this car 70 stage one all numbers matching , moving on :)

    Options?

Taking into account how nice the red car came out, I think I speak for everyone here when I say you should dedicate a thread solely to the restoration of this car.

Same thing happened when my '72 Stage 1 4-speed sold on eBay in 2011.

To sweeten the pot, I included my 25 year collection of nice used/NOS parts. The auction brought more than I anticipated and I was also able to clean out my late father's shed, so he was happy as well.

Flip side to that - pun intended - was the buyer explained to me how he'd planned on doing a frame off for his kid. The thought of seeing the car restored to its former glory was pretty cool. Fast forward a few months and I get a message from Cook that Sawzall Mike is parting and scrapping the car.

There were a multitude of feelings but like Mr. Young says: I fared well and it's the buyer's car to do whatever they'd like to do with it.

Incidentally, rare parts from it ended up on other cars that were missing them.
