Bert: The M7 Rear Window Defrost was available in the convertibles in 1970. They made a total of 76 cars so equipped that year. 68 cars made in Flint, 5 cars made in Leeds MO., and 3 cars made in Fremont CA. My car came out of Freemont, and is a GS455. 65 convertibles had this option in 1971 and 56 convertibles in 1972. I'll try to upload some photos tomorrow afternoon.
This is the ductwork for the 70 'vert. Looks completely different than the 71/72 style. Which makes sense since the rear seat metal backing is completely different for those cars.
It's been over 10 years, since the last post but I just obtained the rare dash faceplate, switches, connectors and the grille! Can one of you guys kindly send me the photos if you still have them for the mounting of the blower motor, tube and grille? You can email the photos to me at up2parr5@hotmail.com. I also have a rear speaker behind the rear seat- Hopefully the speaker will not interfere with the blower and tube installation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Matt, are you still in Baltimore? I just emailed you about the rear defogger set up. I live in Westminster.
If possible it would be great if the pics and info you now have could be shown here. 10 years is a long time to wait to get a correct reply to a question. The info that is provided on this forum by members like you helps more of us than you'll ever know. Thanks
If anyone has pics of the setup, could you kindly reply. If there is a pic of the equipment attached to the back seat frame, that would be really helpful!
Hi, picture of the blower unit. I did a lot of research on these. I had four of them at one time. I installed one in my 71 convertible and still have one left for my 72 Stage one. There are two different plastic body's, one will work for both and one will not.. The 70 unit will not work with one or two as it does not have the bend for the fuel evaporator canister. Nelson
