Happy New Year, Guys I very been away with work for awhile, need some help and advice about fuel pumps. Today was taking my GS for a ride and a trip to the shop. She started fine and ran for a few minutes while I got ready. On my way out the door she died and would not start no matter what I tried? Nothing worked So I had towed to the shop, once there I looked at some things that needed replacement and thought maybe I need a new fuel pump, because at one point the fuel was not moving the line was clear? okay, so I went looking for a new fuel pump but here is where I’m confused, I found a carter pump but it’s not for a GS with AC . All the ones I found are for no A/C? Then I tried the carter website there is no carter website it’s not there anymore. any advice on which fuel pump to use? Will the non A/C work. Thanks,
I had a non-ac pump on my car, but wanted to replace it with the correct one that had the return line for an ac car. Took a while to find the correct ac pump. They should both work, just the ac pump has the return so that the fuel doesn't boil when the engine gets really hot. This one should work: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1837997883...t5KKOxN99A%3D%3D|clp:2334524|tkp:BFBMvs3B-89f
Thanks, Dr. Roger I will check it out, it seems that’s the only one out there all the others are non AC type.
This is a real Carter. Has the eccentric wear pad. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carter-Fue...p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
I looked up a 1975 regal with a Buick 350, https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...l+350cid+v8,1294758,fuel+&+air,fuel+pump,6256 I don't see why the 3 line pumps wouldn't work.
If you look at the bottom of the link I posted, it includes both 75 and 70 Buick 5.7's. I think they are interchangeable. Not sure why R Auto doesn't show them.
I was thinking guys? Now that I know that they both work, should I not put the correct one back as I have A/C . I like her to be as original as possible and I’ve corrected many rigged things on my GS form when I got it. Thanks again to all who have posted, you learn allot here and you guys are all great. Z
They will both work. If you run the A/C in hot weather, the car may be hard to start with the non-A/C fuel pump.
Well guys I thought, I ordered the right pump? It arrived today and guess what it was wrong, mine has 3 outlets for the A/C The one I received had only 2 outlets, I know that it could be used but even my mechanic says it should be replaced with a 3 outlet one., See oic below of mine, what a nightmare, how can this be so hard to get.
