I raced my Electra at the local 1/8 mile drags at the airport this summer. What a blast! Where else can you light up the ol one legger for the whole 1/8 th mile and not have the local police coming down on you!! Anyway, I found on a local sales forum a gentleman that has a 12 bolt posi rearend out of a 74 Lesabre Limited. Will this bolt in without any modifications? Looking to try racing this again with some traction! If not, what would fit? After 30 years I finally got to buy this duece. Serviced this car back in 78-82 for a local business and purchased it from a friend with approx. 52,000 (odometer quit at 47,235) last year. Its everything I remember and more. "Low and not to slow" Any help will be appreciated!

You have the post 1970 9 3/8". If the LeSabre is a 350 it will not have the same rear. If it has a 455 it may be the 8 7/8".

an entire brake drum-to-brake brum swap? it should.

what's the gearing the 'new' unit? if it's a 9 3/8s or 8 7/8s rear axle you're pretty much going to be stuck with whatever it's got.

If the LeSabre is a 350 it will not have the same rear.

    *shrugs*

you say that like having an 8 1/2" rear is a bad thing. some people like being able to order 5 gazillion different rear end ratios and having parts availability on the posi stuff.
