1971 skylark th350- what is this part on the passenger side?

    Sorry, I have not worked on these transmissions before and would love for someone to tell me what
    this part is on the right side of the transmission? It has a red wire lead on it from above somewhere.

    There is an emissions device called the Transmission Controlled Spark (TCS). It shuts off vacuum advance in 1st and second gear, then restores it in 3rd gear. That is an oil pressure switch that provides the 3rd gear signal for the TCS. Pay it no mind.

    Thanks Larry,
    If it leaks can I take it out and plug the hole or use something to stop the leak?

    Sure just put a 1/8 NPT plug in the hole.
