Which direction does the 1972 GS hood to cowl weatherstrip go on. Does the open side, where you can see the plastic clips, go towards front or towards windshield? Also, does anyone have a picture of their cowl screen on a car. I'm not sure how this should look.

    Thank you.

Tom: I remember answering this for someone last year - maybe you can find the thread. I installed mine last summer but my car is still in storage. My recollection is that the clips go towards the front. I used a single hole paper punch to punch the holes in the weatherstripping for the clips.

    Dave is correct…
The opening faces the windshield. I went and checked on mine.

I will have to disagree with you guys on this one. I say the opening goes to the rear. The assembly manual appears to show it to the rear as well. I am going by the 70 on page 1-6.1

71 assembly page 1-6.1 shows the same.

My original 70 seal opening is at the rear.

Checked an original untouched 72 Olds Cutlass that uses the same part # and it was also to the rear.

Hey, I know this is an old post, but was trying to figure out how the cowl weatherstrip goes on. Does anyone have a picture? Especially the edge near the fender. Wasn’t sure how close it goes and it Looks like the opening is to the back ( towards windshield). Just wanted to verify. Thanks!
