1972 Stage 1 Cortez Gold, black fold down bench seat Numbers matching WS engine, BB trans, and LWB 3.42 posi A/C, power windows, rear window defogger, N-25 rear bumper Has original WM coded 15x7 chrome wheels Missing the correct carb, distributor, and radiator The car needs a cosmetic and mechanical restoration and appears to be mostly original paint. The right fender and left door are not original, but all other sheetmetal is. It’s solid except for both quarter panel wheel openings/outer wheel houses, right front fender dog leg needs a patch, a few holes in the drivers floor pan edge, and 2-3 very small pinholes in the passenger floor pan. Minimal core support work under battery/fenderwell needed. I purchased the car from the estate of the former owner who passed away last year. It appears that someone started the restoration many years ago as the car was disassembled and in boxes when I got it. It looks like they set the motor and trans in the car, then put all the other parts in boxes in the car and trunk (the flywheel and torque converter were not installed but are included). The engine will need to be rebuilt but turns over and is not locked up. I spent a few weeks putting all the parts back on the car so it will be easier to see what is included and to transport. It is missing the windshield, headliner, carpet, driveshaft, exhaust system, oil sending unit, starter, fuel tank, EGR valve, AIR pump setup, fuel and brake lines, A/C condenser, WOM’s, cowl screen, shocks, jack/spare, and some of the original suspension hardware. Some of the square/cage nuts from the front fenderwells are missing/broken off. I have more pics for anyone that is seriously interested. I recommend you come see the car or send someone to inspect it before you purchase it. I have nothing to hide and will answer any questions and go over everything so you know exactly what you are getting. Clean Texas title and Bill of Sale will be included. I’m listing it here on the v8board first, then it will be put on Craigslist and Facebook if a board member does not purchase it. $12,500/best offer
When I saw the title of "1972 Stage 1" in the cars for sale section with your username name as the poster, I was shocked and excited at the idea that I could by your red '72. Actaully I knew it wouldn't be the red car but I can dream can't I? As stated already, this is a great project car. Good luck. I love these '72s!
Thanks for all the positive comments. Some interest but no serious offers here, so I have listed the car on Facebook.
Sold. The car is heading west for a frame off restoration, and will hopefully be seen again after it is completed.
