Not mine, this is a lead. Here's one you don't see too often with a desirable color combo. https://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/d/mcminnville-1978-buick-century-limited/7256398510.html "1978 Buick Century Limited Fastback. V-8 305 Auto Transmission. Runs Great! Replaced Water Hoses, belts, and steering box. A.C. converted to 134 A. Probably needs A.C. compressor..it sounds like a bearing is going out. It has power steering, locks, windows, climate control AC, Delay Wipers, cruise control, plush interior, headliner in good shape, digital AM-FM stereo, and new tires".
This one seems in very nice, original condition considering you do not see many of these anymore. I always thought that these fastback Buicks were a modern version of Buick's expiramentation with the "Sedanette" body style from the late '40's.
I thought those were FWD... then again I dont remember them (Buick bodies).. I do remember a chevy citation.
Thanks 6769RIV Ugly, Weird, Goofy, strange, I actually kind like it.. Definitely looks better than these new poopbox car their they sell today...
You rarely saw vinyl tops on these either, the two tone paint combinations were very popular. I remember the gold/tan, light/dark firethorn red, and the light/dark blue were all over It's really very well equipped as well. This would be an interesting one to own just for the oddity, it will never be overly desirable but will be something that will draw interest at a cruise. Would be a comfortable car for someone getting into the hobby
Olds version https://bringatrailer.com/2017/06/04/1978-hot-rod-street-machine-of-the-year-mid-engined-olds-442/
As I mentioned earlier and that was at $3500, it's a great entry car into the hobby that's not like all the others, and being a Limited and nicely optioned it would be very easy to live with. A weekend of TLC would do wonders
I have owned this 1979 Turbo Century Coupe ( 1 of 61 produced in 79 )since 2000 restored it in 2015 it received a Bronze at the GSCA nats in 2015 received a BCA award at the 2017 Buick Club of America National meet and raced the car at the 2018,2019 pure stock drags. The car draw so much attention amongst all the cars at the Pure Stock Drags I was invited to show my car at MCACN in the Pure Stock Drags display a Bronze award there also. Its enjoyable to own something other than a belly button cars. I also own a 65 and 68 GS's. All I have to say to all the people that give negative comments on something that is different or ugly is that you should be thaning those of us that are saving these cars so others can appreciate them for ehat they are.
I was always a bit surprised Buick and Olds got the areoback and not Chevy and Pontiac, it seemed refereed of what might be expected from the companies
I have fond memories of this car, my neighbor growing up got one new (not the turbo coupe, just a plain jane one). I never thought it was ugly, just a bit odd.
Count me in as one who absolutely hates these things. The 80's architecture doesn't support the fastback idea like the 40s did. This thing looks like some cleaved it's ass end off with a hatchet.
