Sean, there's no problem looking at the cars during the course of the judging, but I recommend that you step back and wait if you see the judges checking out a particular car that you're ready to look at.

Other than not interfering with the judges' work, feel free to be checking out the cars throughout the judging period, which is about 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Saturday morning is likely to be the very BEST time to see the maximum number of cars -- about 300 -- before some folks pack up to leave after the judging is completed.

I'm no expert on the judging process or the deductions for non-factory items with respect to the Archival award, 65specialconver, so I'll defer to someone who can answer your specific question regarding the alarms and stereo. Since the goal of the Archival award is to preserve originality, I assumed that there would be a points deduction, but I can't say with authority that that's the case.

My understanding of the Archival Class from reading the article in the Bugle, is that of an original Buick that's been well maintained to factory configuration and aging gracefully. One major deduction, mentioned in the Bugle, was paint. No more than 25% of the car can be repainted.

Any idea if there will be a regional or Buick show in the Southern US?

So I guess this means my tri-tone paint of rust, primer and paint meets the 25% rule. Interesting....so by standards, they'd rather have a car rust apart than paint it. mmmmmmmmm...as I see it something is not quite right with this. But hey!!! what the hell do I know?:Do No:

Bruce, this holds true only for the Archival Class, where factory originality trumps condition.

For 400-point formal judging, condition and authenticity (whether factory original or correctly restored) are both factors.

We may or may not come up we dont know. Since we cant show our buick there. We may just drive it up for its first long distance run after the upgrades. Before we run to yakama with her the 4th on our way down to reno.

We also may cruise the swapmeet looking for stuff like rear side markers our pax side fell out & dont know where to find one. Plus looking for chrome parts for the buick as well. its either that or we wait until we go down to reno the following week.

Well, after a weird month of summer weather in this part of the world, the forecast for the Nationals is looking very nice! I'm really looking forward to the show now that it's just around the corner. I will be arriving on Friday with my father, so we'll see you then.
