The Carolina Chapter of the Buick Club of America is pleased to announce the 2012 Buick Club of America National Meet is coming to Concord, NC June 27-30, 2012. We would like to invite all Buick owners to join us for this event. We are expecting to get over 500 Buicks to this event and have great tours and activities planned. A registration form is attached, but more information can be found at our website (Google it since I cannot post a link). All Buicks are welcome and we have classes for 400 point judged, display only, driven, modified, specialty and professional, and vintage race cars. All Buicks through current production year can register to attend this event and be placed on the showfield, but accepted years in each class do vary so check the registration form if you have a fairly modern Buick to see which classes it is eligible for.

The showfield will be located on the grounds at Charlotte Motor Speedway (at this time tentatively in the garage area of the 1.5 Mi oval) and will host the 500+ Buicks including a vintage Buick Race car class new for 2012.

Also beside the new race car class for 2012, this meet will also host the 75th Anniversary event of 1936-1938 Buicks in cooperation with the 36-38 Division of the BCA. All 36-38 Buicks in attendance will receive a special dash plaque and there will be awards for highest scoring 36-38 Buick and longest driven 36-38 Buick. We are hoping to have one of each model (40C, 41, 46S, etc) of each year 36-38 Buick in attendance.

The host hotel is the Embassy Suite Charlotte Concord just off I-85 Exit 49. They will begin accepting reservation July 5,2011 at the BCA rate of $129 per night which includes a full hot buffet breakfast each morning and two cocktails each night at their managers reception. The hotel also features a Spa and an 18 hole golf course.

The event begins Wednesday with a bus tour to Steele Rubber in Denver, NC. This is a great opportunity to see how they make the rubber reproduction parts for our Buicks and many other cars.

Guest may also visit the Hendrick Motorsports Museum and Race Shops which is virtually across the street from the host hotel . Guest can take self guided tours at their leisure throughout the event during the normal business hours of the museum.

Thursday there is a choice of bus tours to either the NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum or the Levine Museum of the New South, both in downtown (or as we call it, uptown) Charlotte.

Friday there is a driving tour to The NC Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC and the shops in Salisbury, NC. This is an approximately 1 to 1.5 hour long (each way) driving tour from the host hotel to Spencer, NC, the route will be meander through both scenic and historic areas along the way and will travel at speeds suitable for all but the earliest Buicks.

Friday night we are going to cruise to Oehler Barn (pronounced Ay-ler) for a Buick Heritage Alliance benefit BBQ dinner event. They have a large grass field next to the barn where we can park our Buicks. The barn is approximately 6 miles away from the host hotel on roads that do not exceed 45 mph speed limits and there are only 3 turns.

Saturday is the show day and the only day the cars will be allowed on the showfield. The awards banquet in the evening will be at the host hotel.

Sunday The Buick Driving Enthusiast and the Pre-War Division of the BCA hold after tours. Contact those groups for specific details.

We will have a Buick only swap meet and car corral at the host hotel throughout the event with indoor and outdoor swap meet spaces.

For more information contact the Carolina Chapter by Googling our website (site won't let me post a link) where we have a more information , a Frequently Asked Questions page, the registration form, maps and links to each tour destinations website. We look forward to having you going to Carolina not just in your mind, but in your Buick.

They may not have had a choice but this time of year in NC it is way too hot to have an outdoor car event. The chances are high it will be in the upper 90s with high humidity. And the track gives you very little breeze.

BCA National Meets have to be in June or July...usually July, so the chapter did not have a choice per say.

As for high 90's and humidity which it is possible, ACTUAL historic average temps in Charlotte for these dates are 89 degrees with 50% humidity. It's still hot, don't get me wrong, but it could be those temps in any where else for a large portion of the US at that time too.

Regardless of the weather we are going to have a great show and the showfield has lots of shade. We'd love for y'all to come enjoy all the great things we have planned.

We are going to do everything we can to make this the biggest Buick National meet since the Flint meets.

Finally this is a public forum and everyone has the right to their opinion but we have worked hard to bring this event to life. If you have negative comment or concern please try to apply the golden rule and treat us the way you would want to be treated in the same situation. Send me a PM or email if you have a concern, please don't post negative items in the forum. We understand we cannot please everyone but we want to have a positive message to the public. Thanks.

North Carolina is a shade closer , than ; the last BCA National I attended. In 1979 Dad and I drove the Roadmaster from Birmingham, Al. to Minneapolis Minn. 2200 miles round trip! And, we got this, for our trouble;[IMG]

Yes that is the average for a period covering more than 100 years but we are in a trend of years of record 90 plus degree days. So yes it will be very hot. And historical weather at events is an appropriate topic for discusssion. Notwithstanding the weather considerations we all wish your event the best.

6 cars now in the shop being prepared for this event. Also, several previous customers bringing cars. We are bringing a wide array of cars ranging from a 53 Skylark to a 72 GSX .... Got a class for a Motion GSX?

Hi Mark, That is great news to hear.

Honestly I do not know what a Motion GSX is but I will go do some research now and find out. That said we should have a class for pretty much every Buick.

Pretty sure the Motion car would go in the Modified class.

People,people...quit whining about the high temps in July in North Carolina and bring your car to this event and be part of one of the biggest Buick events ever. The goal is to have at least 500 cars in attendance hopefully more.It should be a great show with plenty of great cars on the show field.

I will be working the swapmeet as a volunteer which will have indoor/outdoor spaces at the host hotel.I hope that we can attract many vendors since finding parts around here for our cars can be a task.Take note that this will be a Buick only swapmeet, even if your car is not ready you may find that elusive part here without having to walk miles of vendor spaces at the Auto Fair or any other big swap that you may attend.

For those of us who like to hop up,hotrod or alter our cars in any way,the growing Modified Division show field of the BCA will be a good place to enter and show your car.Cars need not to be full blown kustoms to show as modified since we have mild to wild categories for judging.I will be judging in the modified class and I'm hoping for a very busy day, bring those cars out!

There's quite a few members of the Carolina BCA Chapter that are also members of the GS/GN Club,BPG and current members of V8Buick,we would like to invite everyone regardless of club affiliation to make this event so it turns out as a great one not only for the BCA but for all of us who are passionate about our Buicks.

Finally,I would like to make a personal invitation to all the Northeast Mafia members to come on down and bring those nice cars and have a good time in Tarheel country.I will try my hardest to see that you enjoy your visit and assist you in any way that I can to make your trip worthwhile.:beer

How much is a vendor space? I have enough parts to consume the whole room.

We'll be there. Still have 11 months to find us a nice cruiser (68-76 Electra prefered). Hopefully the BCA Nats and BPG Nats both in one long road trip in 2012

Can you get Erik to come?

I was thinking about coming to Dutch Buick event next summer. When is that?

A vendor would pay the general registration fee of $35 plus $25 per space desire. Indoor and outdoor cost the same but you get more room for your $25 outdoors. So for just one space $60 total for two spaces $85 and so on.

No tables are provided and must be self supplied.

The registration form is attached at the top post.

Jim,as posted above there is a registration fee and all the spots are $25.00 after that. That is a good deal for a swap with a captive audience, everybody there looking for parts is going after Buick parts.I think that you may be able to sell or just get rid of a good amount of stuff in one place,I think that Ryan has a lot of parts that may move well if he brings them out.

What happened to the "Parts Ferret",junkyard dog got to it?

Last editions were always mid June. I haven't seen the exact date for 2012 yet. When you come over you can always visit that (or one of the other US car) event(s) in one of my Buicks.

Just a quick update. In the first three weeks that registration has been available we have 38 people registered with 28 cars and the hotel is already 30% booked. This is an extremely fast start compared with the previous few BCA National meets. We know many people wait until the last minute to register so the fact that early registrations are strong is a great sign of things to come. We hope y'all can make it.

Also Charlotte Motor Speedway has confirmed the showfield for Saturday will be inside the 1.5 Mile oval garage areas.
