Ight fellas, no better time than now to start gearing up for the 2015 GS Nats and the GSR Class, Jim Rodgers has asked if I would like to oversee the group this year, too which I accepted. I hope to do all that I can to build the field up as well as the payouts, and ask that we work together to make this year even better than last.
    Any guestions, input, ideas or
Sponsorship donations should be posted here on this thread for easy access for all interested participants.

    GSR rules:
    Skylark/GS A Body
    Buick V8 powered
    Any power adder is LEGAL
Any tire size or construction is LEGAL
    Any size engine is LEGAL
    Any interior is LEGAL
    Fiberglass panels are LEGAL
    Any suspension is LEGAL
    Etc etc, its LEGAL.

Exhaust MUST extend past rear of door and contain no less than one muffler in each pipe with a minimum of 12in case length, round or oval case
    .400 Pro Tree Bracket style
Two Qualifying runs fastest is your dial in,no breakouts,Deep stage is allowed for FOOTBRAKE cars, be sure mark your car DEEP

Yes there will be some quick cars and some not as quick but as we all know the bracket setup evens the field. As Mike Barbarino in "Buzilla" proved last October.

SPONSORSHIP: I assume we've all seen my post in the "The Bench" requesting the help of participants and club/board members to gelp chip in to build the Payouts to what they should be for a National event. No matter how small the amount it WILL help and you WILL be recognized in the GSXTRA provided I receive the donation by JULY 5th, there will be of course a Sponsor List here on this thread and I also will be building a Sponsor board that will be on Display at the Nats. So to get it going I am putting up $500 from my shop "MCR", and will be making many calls to help build on that number and hope you guys will do the same. I will updated the Payouts and the Sponsors here as that info becomes available.

Sponsorship Donations are to be mailed to me preferably by JULY 5th (receipt available by request)

That is open for discussion by all means, best way to determine it would be by what the majority wants if all else fails a coin flip. That's one reason why I want to get the ball rolling so desired changes can be made and everyone have as much time as possible to prepare for those changes.

I want to thank Mr Mathis for agreeing to take the class over. He has youth and exuberance over me so I know he will do very well. I thought long and hard about this decision and I know he will manage the class very well a keep it growing. I will appreciate everyone being as good to him as you all were to me.

With that, put me down for.$200 to the winner. I will also put my red stock appearing car in the class cause I want one of those hoodies. Make it a 3X!

Lets start out with $200. I will possibly increase this over the winter months, depending on how things progress around here and how much I will wind up sponsoring for Super Sixteen and possibly Bracket 1.

You can divide it how you see fit.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Not sure what class I'll be running in next year, but I may very well be running in GSR...... it depends on several things. I'm repairing a bad valve and freshening up the 523 this winter so it should run in the 9.20-9.30 range next year. That may make me want to run SS again..... although I already won that once, maybe I'll try to win a different class!! LOL (I just need to be aware of that DEEP staging garbage!!) For me, I say just line them up and "run what ya brung!" That's why there's TWO yellow bulbs on top... they're there for a reason! LOL

I take an extra large and I certainly can send you some stickers. Let me know where to send them!

Thanks for taking this class on,any coordination of the classes is a chore and what you and Jim are doing is certainly appreciated.
Also, thanks for the early posting of the class rules, this will allow anyone contemplating running in it time to make sure their car fits.
    My size is Large.

I think the proposed rules reflect the original intent of this class for a designed maximum participation.
    Last year proved this true.

Trans brakes/foot braking, 5 tenths vs 4 tenths tree can be discussed ad nauseam, but last years rules worked, the last cars in semi's and finals were foot brake cars on a 4 tenths tree. Go figure, was it luck? I don't think so ,each of the drivers are good racers and showed their mettle.

I personally don't care if its 4 tenths or 5 tenths,I would've done better on a 5 tenths,I was slow each race, must be father time catching up. I'll race whatever you set, I'm there for the fun.

If the intent of some wanting changes is to eliminate chassis or full electronic race cars, set a tire size max. say 10.5 and no backhalf or tube cars and no delay boxes. But who needs a box on a 4 tenths tree.
This will eliminate some cars that were in last year and surely reduce car count which is in my opinion counter productive.

I personally have no ax to grind either way, my car can easily compete whatever, but we should keep the integrity of the class intact and only make minor,if any, changes that work for the whole.

Most definitely, I would like to have the rules /changes set in stone by May, that will allow for equal time to plan and prepare. Im thinking it may help a great deal if you guys just give a rough layout of YOUR ideal format , that way i can determine what majority is and keep it as fair as possible, I will say myself am just a hobby racer when I have something that runs ha, so Im impartial to which tree, stage tactics etc. But I do feel that Delay boxes and throttle stops should be left at home so to speak, they take to much of the racer out of the race IMO. Took the words rite out of my mouth Gary , Im hoping that we don't try to reinvent the wheel and for simplicity sake dont vear to far off from the original rules but just like last year where the Deep staging was allowed , if changes are desired lets air it all out now

I will update the first post here in a few days as to how pairings, lane choice , etc will be decided
