Just wanted to post this over here for everyone to see, I know a lot of people here are not on Facebook.

    2023 GS Nationals update
I John Csordas Jr will be renting the track for Wednesday in bowling Green. Richard,
Ron Joseph and I have come to an agreement with the track to make this happen. Here is what we are planning. 9am open time for parking, set up, whatever till 8pm.
Racing will be from 2pm till 6pm. Possibly later depending on overall car count.
This took a while to come up with a fair price to cover the overall cost.
It will be 15 per spectator/parking at the gate.
It will be an additional 100 for a tech card at the base of the tower from myself.
If we have enough feedback and more racers than I am expecting I will adjust the cost lower for racers.
Not trying to make a profit at all just break even and cover all costs and the additional cost added on for this.
This was not an easy negotiation to make this happen. Richard and Ron both are trusting me on this but I'm also putting my wallet on the line too. Otherwise, I guess I have a very expensive test day alone at the track. Lmao
But in all seriousness, I think from all the feedback this is what the diehards want.
There is a rainout clause for this. So, if we don't race or cancel, we still have to Pay for the track. Now in previous years Richard ate that cost but this year the price went up of course. So, if it is a rainout or racing is canceled it will still be 10 dollars to park.
Once again trying to keep everything fair and at a break even for myself. I am sponsoring the event myself, but I want my personal sponsorship to go towards the extra cost for Friday evening racing and not Wednesday.
Please comment if this is something you are interested in racing.
Please comment and suggestions good or bad.
Please message me personally also if you don't want to post.
I am being as upfront on all this as I am a racer and want the best for all of us at the event.
This will be a cash at the gate day. No pre-registration, no tickets, no I am a sponsor, etc.
I don't want to do refunds if something happens. I trust you all to be fair and honest as I am with you all.
Side note. This is open to any make or model. So have friends come out too. If any kids bring jr dragster contact me. We want everyone to enjoy.
Thank you and looking forward to feedback.

It was nice that Wed. was free to park as many (myself included) don't usually get there until late afternoon but I understand and appreciate your effort. Anything to expand the event is good.

I totally understand. There is a 10 dollar charge if there is no racing anyway this year just to park. Richard has absorbed the Wednesday cost over the years but now the price went up alot for this year. Richard is still absorbing some of the cost but not all. So with Richard, myself, Ron Joseph and the track owner we came up with this fair price of 15 dollars a spectator since racing will be happening and the additional 100 to race. Do I think this will cover the cost? I hope so but I'm willing to take the chance and lose some money for the overall good of the event. I was asked to be race director to speak for what the racers want and this was a huge topic. I'm grateful for Richard letting me take the chance to see what the overall outcome is.
A big complaint after the Nats is it goes too fast. So an extra 10 or 15 dollars to give everyone an extra day to hangout is a small price to keep an event going.

Thank you for the update. I have been trying to figure out if the event was happening this year. Until here recently the only real news I had heard was that getting everything setup was proving difficult/the event wasn't confirmed yet. I did catch this update on the facebook page but had seen that http://www.gsnationals.com/ hadn't had it's dates updated yet. Glad to hear that the event is still going on. I missed the event last year but was able to get my Buick up and running this past fall. Hopefully I can take it down this year.

Trying to find a link for rooms at the Nat's and I keep getting re-directed or it doesn't exist. I thought that this issue was resolved??

Any updates that anyone knows about??

The website no longer exists for the nationals. Doubtful there will be one with the Factbook page being easier and free. I would just Google for a hotel of your choice I don't think that info is posted anywhere except for individual chapters or groups that try and stay together for a discount. Also I don't know because I don't handle that part.

    Nicholas.
While I greatly appreciate the comment, i am not affiliated with the GS Nationals at all (other than a participant). John Jr is the co-race director and has been busting his ass to get everything done.

Now, me and John are the ones putting on the Buick Bash at Quaker in June, but that is for another thread.

    Thanks again though.

Thanks for stepping up Jr... Might I suggest a extra entry fee gamblers race for Weds evening... Many of the guys who will show up for this extra day are accomplished racers, who don't need another day to make laps, but certainly would be interested in a little more competition. Keep it simple, one class, anything goes, $20 entry fee with 90% payback.. you keep the extra 10% to help cover costs. Pay winner and runner up only...

If this extra day and race proves popular in future years you can consider box/no box classes, and refine it as you go..

    Just a thought..

Thank you Jim. Yes currently there is 2 race classes. An off the trailer dial in race. 10 or 20 dollar entry fee plus cash on top from Rob Giroux to closest to your dial.
Then we will have a gamblers race with a 20 dollar buy in with all money paid out plus 250 from Willie Wager as a sponsor. We have 150 for quickest buick powered and bodied pass of the day from RPM transmissions. I got money from a few other sponsors and racers also for different things including Will Bill, Phil Rhoitman, Jim Rodgers and a few who did not want to be acknowledged but are greatful we have an extra day. Im taking a big chance renting the day as it is not cheap at all but we need it and it will make the event more fun. We all say the few days go so fast and yes i agree we dont need a day of testing. You can still test but now race as well. Thursday will have gambers races as well with additional cash on top as well. Looking to make this year a great one for all to attend.

If anyone is interested in helping out and sponsoring towards wednesday they can contact me. 914 469 8617. I locked in 4 hours of racing for this day from 2 to 6pm. If we have a good turnout and needed i can add more hours. Of course that takes money so i locked in what i thought would work for now.

Thank you. Working hard on this and it is a thankless voluntary position. Im glad Richard is giving me free reign to try and make things happen for the racers and spectators alike.

You could allow grudge racing on that day.
I would love to see this event try a BOP show.
