If anyone that is going needs any parts, LMK. I can bring them with me! I am bringing Brett some trim.
The site has been updated with pictures from the first run. I also passed the info along to the local chapter of the BCA and have had a great response from them as well.
If it's wet or going to rain later in the day, we'll go with the rain date of the following Saturday. We'll make a decision by Thursday evening.
This has been moved to the following Saturday, October 23rd due to a pending storm front rolling in this coming Saturday. I've updated the original post.
NEW DATE: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23rd Brett has done a great job getting the word out this year and a big "Thanks" goes out to him. Weather does not look good for this weekend so we had to make the decision to go with the rain date. I just wanted to add in a few details about the run which I'm sure Brett has already covered. The BuickRun 2021 will leave from my parking lot located at: S.D. Lyons, Inc., 1898 Fall River Ave, Seekonk, MA. The ideal time to depart is 10:00 a.m. but we are not on a schedule. Don't worry if we get split up in traffic, stop lights or intersections. It's not possible to keep all the cars together but we try. We will regroup like we did during the first run. It worked out really nice and we all got great pictures and met a lot of new people and cars. Our first stop will be Colt State Park, Rte 114 (Hope Street) Bristol, RI. It's on Narragansett Bay with beautiful views and plenty of parking. From the park we will head through historic downtown Bristol, RI and over the Mount Hope Bridge onto Aquidneck Island and we can stop at the Newport Car Museum parking lot to regroup again. I don't think we will have time to tour the museum like we did in 2019. From the museum, we will proceed into downtown Newport. We are going to go by the harbor district and head towards Fort Adams State Park en-route to Ocean Drive in Newport. We are not stopping at Fort Adams but it's on the route to Ocean Drive so you may want to put it in your GPS but go past it without turning in. Ocean Drive has big parking lots to regroup again. The Drive offers incredible ocean views, waves crashing on the rocks, and great photo opportunities. We will cruise from the Drive and go past the ocean mansions (including Jay Leno's) and travel to historic Bellevue Ave where the Breakers, Marble House and other famous mansions from the Gilded Age era are located. We will head out of the northwest side of Newport and go by the beaches then head to Tiverton, RI for lunch for those that wish to join us. I would get separate checks at the restaurant to avoid any confusion. Some people may wish to stay and cruise around Newport, walk around, or stop for lunch there. The BuickRun is free and each individual pays their own expenses. It's all just for fun. We can keep the run on all secondary roads except after we leave Newport there would be about 5 miles of highway (lightly traveled) to get to the exit for the restaurant (Rte 81 South) where there is a good size parking lot. The restaurant is going to be a gathering place for anyone that wishes to go. We don't have a reservation but it should not be needed on a Saturday afternoon. Barcellos Family Restaurant, 1214 Stafford Road, Tiverton, RI. Barcellosfamilyrestaurant.com. Check it out. It's not too far off the exit from Rte 24 north. Great restaurant and fantastic food.
95% chance of rain here on Saturday so I'm guessing another punt? Should not have called last Saturday so early - ah well.
