I need to replace the 4 Speed Shifter boot for my 1971 GS 455. Mine is for a vehicle without the console.

Is anyone aware of where this boot is available or is there anyone reproducing this item?

    Thanks.

How bout a name GS Dude?
I ordered mine from Year One and it was about $50. It lists the 68-72 as being the same part #.
My brother has a 71 non-console 4-speed and this boot is identical to his.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks again everyone.

I did contact Year One and they advised me that they did not have the boot for a car without the console. They had several other recommendations, including checking Hemmings. I don't think they are aware of the great bulletin board.

I have not had a chance to contact Metro, but perhaps tomorrow and I will let you know.

If you do have a photo of the boot, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Thanks Scott

You are right, they (Year One) did have it in the new catalog. They did not know why a salesman had said it was not available.

I placed an order today and they said since it is a repo, it will take about two weeks to get. WOW. This is great!

    Thank you everyone.

    Shifter Boot

I got mine today from yearone looks and fits great, but where can I get the ring to hold it down? Yearone said that you have to use your old one.

No one sells a reproduction of the shifter boot retaining ring. Years ago I needed one for a Stage 1 4-speed car so I made one. I borrowed one from a friend, cut a piece of aluminum that was a little larger then the ring, clamped it under the part, and proceeded to form it with a small ball-peen hammer. When finished it matched the original nicely and worked perfect.

    Tim,
Sorry, I don't have any of these rings laying around, but I am sure some one on the board could loan you one to copy.

It looks like they make the shifter boot retainer rings for '68 - '72 Chevelles with a bench seat

    http://www.chevelle.com/2000_27.pdf

    page 27, part #SR0801 - $69.95

Anyone have any experiences with these? It looks correct from the picture :Brow:

I checked it doesn't look like it's the same, and I'm not going to pay $69 for a ring, if I have to I'll use screws and washers.

    Gentleman,
The shifter boot retaining ring is a "BUICK" only part. The hump in the floor is unique to 68-72 buick a-bodies only. If you purchase a part for another car you are wasting your money.
