    Good afternoon,

I purchased a short block 463 that TA built a few months back. I am trying to decide on what cam shaft I should put in the thing. I have some really well done high $ ported iron heads from Killians' porting with 2.155/1.75 valves.
    I have a C113, 284/88H, 308s. and a custom roller cam with specs of
    240/254@.050 .600/.584 lift, Intake CL 105, Lobe Separation 109

Car that this would be going into is a 71 Skylark, TH350, 3.23 gears. MT scavenger headers. Sp1. I have a Qjet done by Everyday and 850DP, 1050HP carb also.
Trying to put together to do Alaska Drag week so trying to make this a drive able yet competitive car at the same time. Just seeing what you would do.
    Thank you.

I would say the C113 is the better fit

What power are you hoping to make to be competitive?

I know its a tall order but probably low 11's. I have 3.73 gears I can put in there if needed as well.

Yes you are correct. My typo

Thanks hugger. Was going to need a converter for sure unless we use the small cams which i have one matched to those along with that Quadrajet

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have been 11.80's in my drag car with that cam and a mild built 455 without decent flowing heads. Was with 4.10 gears and a higher stall converter though.

Trying to keep this fairly pump gas friendly as we only have 90 octane up here but 100LL is easy to get also to help out.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

90? That sucks. I whine about only being able to get 92 here in Seattle.

I would say the 308 or roller, but that.might depend on what springs your heads have.......but the 308 won't effectively run power brakes so not sure if that matters or not.

For everyday driving the smaller carb might work better, I ran a 950 on my iron head 464 with more compression than you. But only because my intake wouldn't fit a 1050.

Back when I was running low 12 I played 1 weekend with a 1050 and an adapter compared to the 850i had then.......it didn't go faster......but it didn't slow down either,

I've always been told buick the buick motor love the big cfm carbs but you might have to run slightly smaller jets in them.

I ran 100ll for years in my car. Half the price of race fuel. I think between the compression I've pushed to and rpm I spin I might have to buy the real juice on this new motor
