    Mark,
I found the spec, i will tighten this up. Just ordered these thrust washers in various thicknesses. Pressure spring is changed. The Transgo orange spring is much stiffer than a stock relief spring. Restriction is in the converter charge circuit as well. IMG_5382.jpeg IMG_5380.jpeg

Mark, after following the shop manual end play procedure, but input and output shafts are within spec. At least I know what it is now. Installed the 0.125 restriction in the converter charge circuit. IMG_5418.jpeg

Finally going back together. Block washed, Crank has been polished, with extra attention to the thrust surfaces. New bearings as well. All were in nice condition, but had to buy full set anyways to replace the thrust. IMG_5782.jpeg

My machinist recommended this mod to the thrust bearing on the tranni side of the thrust. A 0.030-0.040 chamfer on the upper bearing shell at the parting line. Took a couple strokes using a fine file, then wash the bearing for install. Trying to prevent reoccurrence of thrust bearing failure.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

    Looking good!

Now get that wrapped up and come assemble this 470 that I've been tripping over for several years in my garage. All machined and ready to assemble.
