While 49 isn't a big anniversary… the ’73 GS came home today from Jack Schlein Buick in Hackensack, NJ in 1973 when I was seven.

The order was finalized on February 15th, the Framingham build sheets are dated May 2, it was invoiced May 3, and then registered on May 18.

This is the oldest photo I know of, and is the first anniversary my Dad will miss.

Actually, it has the Notchback front seat in Saddle. My dad didn't like buckets enough to put up with white (my brother was three) for the family car. My parents ordered it, and I still have it... Some options are tinted glass, rallye steering wheel, am/fm, trailer hitch, sport mirrors...

Here it is from a "cars and coffee" here in Atlanta in 2020.

Thanks! The drag radials have been there for a while, and I just swapped the fronts for raised white Coopers two or three months ago...

    Nice Gran Sport!!
    350 or 455?
It truly is amazing how time goes by, the cars remain and people pass on, kind of bitter sweet.

Thanks :) It is a 455 Stage 1. And yes, we aren't a particularly sentimental family, but hard to imagine letting it go.

Great story. Would be nice to see it at the Nationals. '73-4 are underrepresented.

next year is going to be the 50th anniversary, perhaps we should highlight the 73"s in a display of some sort. I would love to bring mine but with working on bringing my 71 to race makes it hard to have 2 cars at one place. But if something special is organized perhaps bringing the 73 could be a wiser choice, and cheaper.

My Dad and I brought the car to Columbus in 1999, so yes it's time - the date is already on my calendar.

It would be cool to see them lined up, although Step-Children and Redheaded Step Children classes already exist... :D

    Cool boat!!
    I consider the '73 to '77's "improved" versions of the A bodies:cool:

So the Stage1 emblem on the right side of the trunk lid was factory?

Originally it had a "Buick" emblem there... I think it was one of the first changes my Dad made, along with adding a "455" above the Gran Sport badge in the grill.
