496 Cubic inch-aluminum STGII head engine

    What’s wrong with aluminum rods? Stretch? Wish I could buy this engine but I have stage 1 heads, intake, headers etc. Looking for someone to machine a new block right now. Not many( none ) Buick knowledgeable machinists in Omaha.

    In the past alum rods were typically only used in race engines as they had a limited lifespan. Modern tech has improved a lot and now there are people using alum rods for long term street use.

    Yep, I considered it seriously, but at that time I did not have a real purpose for it.
