Yeah but it wont break. What are the fittings on top of the axle tube for? The TA cover is a nice part I have one of those. How much longer before lift off?

To be honest, I do not know what the fittings are for on the top? I will have to ask Monzaz the rear end builder.

Lift off will be this spring, and then next winter the good engine will go in!:TU:

I thought it might be some type of vent system. I think there is a small cap on mine in that spot. Manual valve body for the trans huh, that will be interesting. Did you use the 200r4 trans for this thrashing. I use a B&M quicksilver for my shifter, works pretty good.
I did notice on mine that the 3500 convertor was great without the power adder then with the nitrous the convertor had to be a lot tighter. The turbos are going to zing that motor right up there when that all locks up. It is going to rock with those lighter parts you have for the good motor.
I know on mine it is Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde with and without the nitrous. Hurry the heck up we are not getting any younger here. Got the double nickle coming up in March.

I am using a TH400 have not picked out a shifter yet. The reverse manual valve body will not be a problem, I like to shift:3gears:I am excited to leave the line under boost off the trans brake!

I picked the TH400 over the 2004R because I wanted to build the chassis, rear end, and trans to handle up to 1200 HP. At this HP level the 2004R really is not the best pick. For 600 HP and lower they are great! Sure the car is overbuilt for the mild level of performance I expect (mid 10s) but better to have strong parts then a mess on the track.

My converter is rated at 2700 however I am pretty sure it will stall at about 3200 with the twin turbo combo as the torque should be about 550+ Ft at 3200 RPM. Like you said, with a NA Buick 350 my converter may stall at 2700 RPM but under boost it will be higher.

I picked a 3.42 gear and a tall street tire so I do not need an overdrive gear. 15X10 wheels with 285/70/15 With the street tires (30.6" tall) I will be at 2500 RPM at 65 MPH which is perfect.

I am shooting for mid 10s at 125 MPH. When I hit the track with a 26.5" tall tire I can cross the traps at 125 MPH at 5500 RPM. I will just turn down the boost till I am running consistent in the mid 10s that is as fast as I want to go. :beers2:

Until you get use to it after a few weeks and decide to get into single digits.:TU:

No, too many safety requirements to go faster than 10s....:spank:

hey Sean, how come you didnt go for the wave trac diff?

    bad ass
If I would have known better I would have just had a 12bolt built rather then buying parts to build up my originaly 72 8.5 ten bolt.. cause you get a new houseing and price is nearly the same!

I just went with what Jim (Monzaz) suggested, he knows his stuff so I went with that.

You are right, by the time you beef up a ten bolt you are in the same $ category and the housing and tubes are not as strong... I like the large bearings, 33 spline axles etc. I say build it right, build it once!:beers2:

Sorry, more q's. What cams front and rear? I'm running 35's front and rear. Blue cam on the front (most initial tip in) and pink in the rear (slower tip in, more volume). It is very responsive, but occasionally has a hint of stumble still if nailed right off idle. Did the big front shot force you to delay the power valve? I might try going slightly bigger on the front.

I use the brown cam in the front in hole #2 and a white in the back as well in #2 hole. I had a 5 power valve and now have a 6.5 which helps but I think I am going to try a 8.5 next .....So delay is not really a problem, I idle at about 9 inches so lets see what happens.
I would think that with twin turbos you spool pretty quick and you should be fine with a larger shot up front

if he is pulling 20 at idle the spool has to be amazingly quick !!....would think the bigger pump shot might help the idle transition ??

Both Sean and Mark....just so you know...I have a virgin sp block and crank in my garage, waiting for the results of your labors. I intend to build a turbo motor and you guys are doing a great job and are my inputs !!

Nice! I tried going bigger front and rear to 38. It really likes it. I kept trying to get away with the smallest shot that wouldn't stumble but screw that, I want VIOLENCE!

The more times I read this story, the more I don't believe it. I've been playing with buicks for 40 yrs and the nhra stockers stg 1 455's back in the 70's and 80's didn't make 600hp. And I don't think they make 600hp today. How did a 350 back then make 600hp????

I am not sure what the NHRA stockers have to do with a modified 350 like Bud was running. Stay tuned for my book with more details on this racing engine via Darryl.

They ported the heads very well, used oversized valves, ran high compression, used large cams, degreed the cams, optimized the jetting of the carbs, optimized the ignition timing. And the secret to getting 580 HP was the single plane intakes!

No offence Johnny, I appreciate all the work you have put into the 350 stuff but you know you are leaving power on the table by not jetting the carbs and stuff like that...

We already proved a 551 HP 350 at just 10:1 and also a 421 HP engine at just 8.5:1 compression. The NHRA stocker 350 guys run mid 11s wtih no head porting and stock parts so why is it a surprise? Bill M made 550 HP with 8:1 and a roller cam with only 355 cubes then made 1021 HP with a supercharger.

My 350 made 398 HP at 5600 with just 8.3:1 compression and I have since lightened the rotating assembly by 2200 grams as well as added heads that put a NA buick 350 to 11.08 witha 3800 pound car. I am adding twin turbos on top of that and should more than double the HP and still be street friendly.
