Hey all- I'm looking for a source for a set of inexpensive 14" steel rims to go on my '61 'Lark. I'm going for a low-budget retro-rod look, originality isn't critical.

Further details- I have a good set of 14" rubber from another former project that I want to use on this car. I'd read somewhere that 14" wheels were an option on the car, that's why I kept the tires when I got rid of the old project (a 96 Jetta- never buy a car in the dark:().

When searching this forum (yup, tried that first) I read that 90's Mitsi Galant rims might fit- but that was in reference to a '63 I think- can anyone verify that those rims might work on a '61? The thought of using rims made by a tuna company frightens me a little, but if it works who am I to complain about the smell?

I'd read elsewhere that early Mustang rims might work as well- anyone know what years?

I'd be happy to gather this info and put it into an FAQ post for us 4-nutters.

Buick never offered 14" wheels for the 61-63 mid sized cars. They came stock with 13" wheels, but 15" steel wheels were a factory option, and their are a few sets around if you look hard.

The early Chevy Novas came stock with 14" 4 bolt wheels that will fit the 61 -63's.

The 90's Mitsubishi Galant rims should fit. The bolt pattern is the same I know cause I have Galant rotors on my 63.

The 60's era Mustangs that had the 4 bolt wheels will also fit.

All 61-63 BOP intermediate sized cars came with the same 4 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern.

    Hope this helps.

I have access to two 62 Nova rims in local yard. Nissan four lugs fit on the other two drums, no problem.

Thanks for the info gents- I haven't had the wheels off mine yet, been concentrating on the motor and body. Is it the front or rear (or both) that I need to be concerned about the drum vanes and offset clearance? I "assume" the fronts would have them as that's where 80% of stopping happens, but I haven't investigated yet.

Newmexguy- any idea what those rims would go for? I bet shipping from New Mex to New Hamp might be kinda pricy.

Pics of the '62 Nova rims. Appear to be straight and clean. Sorry only two on this car, put Nissan rims on rear axle. I don't think I'd drive on those tires, lol.
