63 Wildcat rebuild. ST 400 neutral safety switch

Discussion in 'Classic Buicks' started by WildcatMark, Aug 8, 2020.

  1. The 63 Wildcat rebuild/restore is going along well. A few issues. But that’s to be expected
I’m installing a ST400 onto the 425. Does anyone have a part number for the proper neutral safety switch that will fit directly onto the original console shifter? I tried a 65 Rivera NS switch but it’ll take some modifications to make it work. Is there a direct fit one available that fits the ST400 shift pattern? TIA!

    WildcatMark,
The 1963 is VERY VERY different from 1964 & above. And has been discontinued by every ignition company still in business....
    They are available N.O.S. -- ONLY -- and fortunately, I have two (2) remaining N.O.S. (not DELCO or G M) -- yesterday's aftermarket companies....
The 4 prongs look like they are "bent down" but that is correct !!!

Always best to simply call me --- Craig ---

    Thanks, flynbuick,
    I don't have a way to get the O.E.M. G.M. part number,
    Thank You...
I have mine marked " NS6" which was the old standard
Part Number (very obsolete).... Mine are Vulcan and Tungsten, two old school Ignition companies that have both been out of business since the 1970s !!!!!
    Yours, Craig....
I am sure I could cross that G M number to confirm that is an NS6 (or visa versa).....

    flynbuick,
You may want to check YOUR numbers again, then, because that one he has (whoever he is) as 1964... And that may be correct, then....
Because the 4 prongs are in a VERY different position than the ones I have, that are unquestionably for -- 1963 --.
1963 switch has four prongs, 2 at each end; NOT adjacent to each other as per that illustration......

My assumption is that he is transplanting a 64 console, engine and trans into a 63 Cat. If the OP can clarify the year and donor model, I can post the numbers. For 64 all models used the same switch which is 1367775.

    OP has disappeared.....
May have gone North, and chased deeper into the forest by a Moose....
He needs a fellow Canadian to help him with that... The border is still closed.... Eh?
