Helllo I am new to the board and trying to find 1/4 panels for my 65 skylark. (mine are in real bad shape) Anyone have any ideas? Someone has sugested using the lower portion of a 65 chevelle 1/4, but the wheel opening is not as big as the skylarks. I am really wanting to replave it with metal but it is starting to look like I am fiberglass bound .:ball:

    maddog,

No one makes repro panels for the 65 Skylark, and my guess is that no one will any time soon. The Chevelle stampings are different, and won't work. All the a-bodies had individual outer sheetmetal, except the roof & c/a-pillars. If it were me, I'd start looking for a parts car that had decent quarters you could disect, or start calling some of the west coast parts yards. Then, shipping costs could be prohibitive, but you can get creative and find cheaper ways. I've never seen an NOS quarter either, and would cringe at the possible cost of that.

Sorry there are no good answers, but good luck anyway.

Thanks for the info. A friend of mine (a tractor collector) told me he had seen a guy at a tractor show selling new John Deere hoods that he was making himself using some type of press that would cut and form the metal in one stroke.

The thought is if I can find the guy we might be able to get a limited run of 65 1/4 panels.

Another option would be to find a parts car with good quarters and cut out what you need. No easy to do but possible.
Need some myself and still hunting.

I've got a 64 Skylark and have looked high and low for 1/4 patch panels with no luck so have started trying to make my own. Now I can see why some people have hundreds of hours into bodywork on their cars! The 64 and 65 cars seem to be overlooked when it comes to the repro manufacturers but if we keep asking maybe someday more will be available. Most I've seen just are rusty on the lower 1/4 behind the wheel opening and at the back of the wheel house and don't even need full panels.

I am with you Dave. My 64 lark is originally from CA and just about rust free except for the drivers qtr which was replaced ages ago from what appears to be a good hit.
Apparently they couldn't get a good qtr so replaced it with what they could find.
The bottom curves were not done properly and are the only faws on the whole car......:af:
It would be nice to find some nice lower qtrs too!
Count me in on the repro
    Just my 2 cents

Dont feel s bad 66-67`s are also on the same boat as 64-65`s,i`ve been trying to get for my `67 but never could and i wanted to find out how i can get someone to make them, meanwhile for chevelles they are curently making everything for them including the tunk lid now,we can even get a lousy patch panel,or even a grille.

    Thanks and good luck:mad:

check jc whitney.com. they list qtr. patch panels for 66-67 skylarks. they don't list 70-72 though. i thought that was kind of odd. maybe a misprint but worth checking into.

by rear quarter panel, what are you exaclty talking about? the panel between the rear window and end glass or the whole rear quarter skin? I'll add it to my watch list when I go yarding.. I once found a '65 Red Lark with only the interior taken (when I went) so maybe there's hope.. Scott

What I'm looking for is the lower rear 1/4 panels on both sides. These are behind the rear wheel opening and extend to the rear bumper. I need from the wheel opening back to the curve at the bumper and about 12 to 15 inches high. Would be nice to get about 6 inches of trunk floor too. Most auto wreckers don't want to cut up the 1/4's and if they have a good one will only sell complete- door opening back to rear bumper and up to the roof line. I can't afford the cost and then freight up here to Canada. Our dollar  is only worth about half of yours so whatever price I get quoted I double right away- then shipping, duty, taxes etc.. When I hit it big on the lottery I'm heading south and buying my next project car rust free!
