I am hoping this is the correct forum to post this, if not I apoligize.

Here's the deal, I'm on vacation in the St.Louis area and have located a 66 Skylark 2 dr hardtop with a 340/4 auto.

I have struck a deal with the owner for parts, he is adamant about scrapping the car even though I offered him a fair price for the car considering the condition.

If you are in the St.Louis area and need parts, contact me as I will be parting out the car as much as possible. I absolutely cannot ship anything because I don't have access to any method of doing it, I'm suppose to be on a "working vacation".

Here's what looks good on the car and I would be open to offers to offset what I am paying for the parts I want.

Doors look good, no visible rust through, only surface rust.
Fenders appear good from what I could see.
    The core support looked good
    The hood looked good
Glass may or may not be good, windshield is shot.
There appears to be a front and rear bumper inside the car.
Jack and spare are in the car
Trim pieces are just thrown in the car, so I'm not sure what is and isn't there.
    Grill looks ok
340 with 4 barrel, this I might be able to ship when I get home.
    I'm taking the bucket seats/console/am/fm radio/ac cables/steering column.

I have a hard time finding parts for my 66, so this is your chance to buy what you need at bargen prices.

I'm traveling this week and will be back in St.Louis to start stripping the car over the weekend, or maybe Friday as time permits.

If no interest, she's off to the crusher!

damn no way you can ship at all?

Sorry, the best I can do is haul some of the smaller stuff home and mail it from there.

Fenders/hood/trunk/doors would take up more room than I have.

I'm pissed the guy wouldn't sell me the whole car, so I could move it off and get the parts as needed. He's adamant about the scrap value being about $250, so he wants about twice that for the car, and it's just not worth it.

I really feel bad about it, but that's how it is.

I have a '67 California GS I've owned since 1983 that I'm planning to restore.

Pretty sure the quarters of the '66 are a wee bit different. And the ones on that car are probably a little messed up anyway. I could use some wheel arch trim if that would be the same. Perhaps a few other trinkets. But not much I really need that I probably don't already have in my stash.

If anyone knows about the 66 vs. 67 quarters, I'd appreciate knowing. Regardless if this car has usable ones available.

    I'm in the STL area.

We are not bodymen, so we'd probably do more harm than good.

If you're close, you could come over and hack away!

Looks like you may be in Florida.

Yes, stuck in Florida! I wish I were closer - I'd take you up on it.

If you decide to take a stab at it let me know.

    Best Wishes,

I don't know if it's the shipping problem or what, but I am shocked by the lack of interest in parts off this car.

I've been chasing a bench seat for quite some time now, so I know these parts don't grow on trees.

There are guys in St.Louis with 66's, but I guess there isn't a real demand out there. I'm going to take what I need, give the old car a friendly pat on the top and send her off to the crusher.

By the way, look on e-bay at what fenders/doors/hoods are priced at.

I only need a small portion of that to cover my investment.

The quarters on this car looked to be really rust free also.

The only real rust was from the vinyl top.

    Kind of a shame.

I'm curious if this was the car that was on Craigs list forever. It was a junker with bumpers and a bunch of crap in the interior. The car was listed for $950 originally if this is the one. The only thing that I could tell that looked good from the pictures that he sent me was the console that was dirty as could be and the buckets seats that needed to be recovered. It was mostly the color of rust if it's the same one. I don't have a 66 or 67 that;s why I didn't buy it but the console I wanted.

I could use some parts if you can ship them....
The lower moldings on the rear fender and doors...if they are nice, and don't have holes drilled in them!
Trim at base of vinyl top.
    Front armrest pads, if nice.
If there is other very nice chrome, interior/exterior, I'd be interested. Anything from back-up lights to window cranks and coat hooks!
I'm only interested in chrome that is unpitted, and stainless that can be restored (no extra holes!).
Again, items would need to be shipped to me...
    Thanks!

Yes, this is the same car that was in Craig's List. We got were lucky enough to get an agreement with the owner for the parts we wanted for considerably less than the goofy price he was asking.

From our inspection, we'll be parting it out Saturaday, the body is in really great shape. What you see as rust is surface rust. The history is that the car was taken to a body shop, had the paint stripped and the trim removed in order to paint the car. Well, that never happened and she has sat exposed for a long time. The only rust through we saw was the top, from a vynil roof.

The interior is trashed, but that consol is salvageable as are the bucket seats, floor shift, floor shift column and the "am/fm" Buick radio that may be original.

All in all, it's really a nice car and too bad he wants to crush it.

It wouldn't happen to have the factory cruise control option on it or a vacuum trunk release would it?

Boy you are looking for some stuff on a skylark!

    No it doesn't.

I figured it didn't hurt to ask! Those are the only two options my '66 doesn't have on it and even though they are very rare, I hope to find them someday and add to mine.

For any of you guys looking for 66' GS parts there is a guy on Craigs list minniapolis parting a 2 door HT. I'm in line for the trunk lid only. His name is Mark. The GTO guy, Dale, is also on there but I haven't had much luck with him.Good luck. OJ

Hey OJ. I don't see that listing in Minne. What is the heading? Do you know if the body will end up crushed after parting?

    Hey Joe,
The e-mail on the ad is #696294039@craigslist.org. The guys name is Mark. He bought the car in Missouri. It's been modified with a 350 motor, the GS hood is replaced. He also said the quarters are rusted. He's another GTO guy that bought it for the frame, the rest of the car is being parted out. Hope this helps. OJ
