Hello all. Opened my trunk today and upon closing, it wouldn’t. I tested the locking mechanism and it locks just fine when I push the mechanism and unlocks fine with key. I couldn’t figure out if there is a way to adjust. Any suggestions? Thanks

The adjustment is in the latch piece mounted to the body at the lower center of the opening. The piece or lock mounted to the lid is not adjustable.

I don’t understand what you’re saying is not working. Is the lock not grabbing the bottom piece?

That’s what it seems that the lock is not grabbing to the bottom piece. It was working just fine. I looked at bottom piece and it seems it’s all the way up. It so happens I’m at a car show when this happened. I will see if I can lift the latch piece when I get home. Thanks for prompt response.

It’s possible that your lock has given up the ghost. No Halloween pun intended!

That lock assembly is 55 years old.
Just because the key portion still functions - the actual latching portion may have expired.

what happens when you try to close the lid? Does it just bounce off the lower portion?

So replace this piece in the picture attached?

    No

If there is a bad piece it will be the actual latch on the trunk lid.

I was able to move up a bit the latch piece that’s on the body up a bit and ir closed just fine. Thanks for all your help.

    Glad to hear it.

As you found out that lower catch bar can and does move sometimes.

    Take care of that ‘67.

Post some pictures when you get the chance.
