I'm getting ready to install my recently freshened up turbo 400 in my '66 skylark and i'm having a hard time sourcing a slip yoke for the trans . The trans is originally out of a '67 lesabre with a 340 ,yup its a switch pitch. Does anyone have a good part number for the slip yoke. The slip yoke is the thin walled style. Thanks

The tailshaft bushing id is 1.680" and hopefully mates to 235 u joint. I've called a couple of driveline shops and there is no stock on the slip yoke,(it was once a stocked part). I'm heading towards replacing my tailshaft so i can use a "regular" thickness slip yoke , I think the od is about 1 7/8". So my question now is what years of tailshaft are going to be compatible with my trans .I'm hoping to avoid replacing my output shaft as well. A quick look on ebay for tailshafts (4") made me realize that some had bearings and others ,my version, had bushings. Any tips would be appreciated as i head to the wreckers.

Changing over to the larger yoke is the right move. The '67 is a short yoke and was never meant to handle propeller shaft movement due to rear axle jounce and rebound...the big cars had a slip joint further back in the driveline for that. I think the housing you need was common in the 1970's and up.

All you need to change is the trans tail housing, to convert to the thick yoke.
I changed my thin yoke, when I realized how hard the parts are to find.
