Im having one of these made, not cheap, but I can live with it. ( I think) They are still trying several different procedures but it is looking quite good. It wont be the same material as original, but it will look very close. Would anyone be interested in purchacing any? The shop doesnt know the final price yet, but they are estimating it to be in the 30 to 40 dollar each range. As soon as mine is finished I will post a picture.
I dont have a non ac plate to have them go off of, whats the difference between them? Just missing one wheel or is there an alignment difference?
Looks like the non-ac is just a matter of leaving the one control wheel off of the layout. I hope to have one to show shortly.
I bought a better unit (68 non-a/c) from a member of the board this winter , but I might be interested of a new one . I expect they won't be "fragile" & condition sensitive like the originals . Do you need core or it's only the face plate ?? How to dissemble this ? I haven't try to open it to avoid broken it . Here's my "old" unit , can be sold if someone interested , was working well .
Getting closer, I thought he would have had it done last week but its almost there. Does anyone have both an ac version and a non ac version to compare?
AC and non AC Howdy Capt_Dunzell, I have both versions in my garage - I'll take some pictures tonight and try and get them posted tomorrow. As soon as you get more info on the label let us know.
What I need is measurements of the non ac controls. More specifically, that everything lines up exactly, except that the non ac is just missing the dial and markings on the right. Did I make any sense? hehe, I probably didnt.
They have run off a few more, each is getting better than the last. Looks like its going to be two layers, one printed layer, then another layer covering the lexan. the samples are looking really good. They are working on the cutouts, the laser cutter is melting the edges at this point as the material is very thin. Ill check with them again next week.
Do you have any picture ? How will it be apply ? Peel & stick over the "old one" ? Thank Donald , non-a/c 68 Skylark owner
no pictures yet, but I will get some. You will need to totally remove the old factory label, and clean the plastic plate that it was attached to. At this point the new one will be two pieces, one piece that is a printed mylar type of material, and then a piece of lexan that goes over the top to protect it. So far its the best option they have come up with.
