When in Rome... It`s hardly as far along as the other guy`s but she`s coming. Here`s she`s in PPG DP primer and the work will begin.. :63 I finally found a worthy rust free hood.. Here`s some shots of the body, this is the last coat of primer, once she`s blocked paint will be following shortly.. The upper and lower control arms were so nice i left them bare metal just like the factory. Didn`t sand blast or wire wheel them, i simply hit them with metal cleaner and they came out this mint.. The brake pedal assembly is also bare metal, not painted cast iron gray. This car was super clean... and the tail light are original chrome and very nice. Correct Hemi cross member..
I'm gonna try like h e l l to have her ready this year, but i way under estimated what this project will cost. That's gonna be the hold up... To clean the bare metal pieces i used the metal cleaner sold at Pep Boy's, can't remember the name but they only sell one. She's a great car to start with, everything was nice. She took very little filler and zero filler on the underbody, engine compt and trunk.
Wow...I thought you were the enemy of Buick guys! Nice car, it's coming along great! Thanks for the pics and posting!
I still can't get over how amazingly clean that car is and was before you even started! Just beautiful, gotta appreciate cars that clean. Wow.:TU: :3gears:
You do nice work Dave. I guess i dont keep up with things as much as i used to,but is it for Fast or Pure stock?
Couldn't make it in F.A.S.T. class? Dave Dudek IS F.A.S.T. class. He won't crush the P/S class but I'll bet he crushes his pairing. Car looks great!
Dave..... Did you put any type of top coat clear protector ,over the control arm bare metal? From the way it reads, you did not ,but I'm detecting a slight sheen in the pictures? Very interested as I will be dealing with this issue in a future resto project, and I'm looking for pointers on how to deal with the cleaned bare metal to preserve it. You really know how to pick cars for projects! That is one of the nicest bodies I've ever seen ! That is some virgin azz metal ! Thanks for posting the information and the pictures. Keep the pics. coming and good luck with that project! Rich C.
I did clear coat them.. right now the clear is fresh out of the gun, I need to go over them with some extra fine steel wool to dull them down and they will look next to perfect. I just wasn`t up for the maintenance.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW Sweet car. Can't wait to see the finished product. Please keep the Pics comming, even though this is a buick board I hope everybody enjoys a great old car:TU:
