It's a shift kit thing.. Some shift kits will allow the car to stay in gear, shift kits are allowed. I did say this is about the easiest thing to tech on the car, a quick drive will settle it.. If the trans is illegal the car should be booted. What else can i say? What are you looking for here?
Dave, I was just asking if at one time manual shift automatic conversions were allowed, or not dis-allowed (either shift kit or value body), and at some later time full manual shift automatics were no longer allowed. I don't keep track of the rule changes from year to year, so I don't know. I do know that certain Ford automatics will start out in second gear if the lever is placed in D, maybe Studebaker too. Don't have a dog in the race and not trying to be a smart arse, just asking for personal information and clarification. Maybe someone has kept all those pages that Dan and Bob have sent out over the years and can say for certain if there have been any changes in this area.
If it upsfifts and downshifts in D on it's own good to go. :TU: Full manual illegal wasn't specified for years. It was adopted to combat the light weight phenomenon. So units had to be sent back to the light weight factory to be re-automated. :laugh:
The only common ground I come back to is my own naive view of what the simple rules for P/S should be. Sorry, it's clearly my problem, so I'll stand-down.
Rdl, no worries i'm with you.. if a car doesn't pass tech this year we have decided not to wave them through no matter who it is.
Dave only a conversion to a manual shift valve body will allow a 727 to start off in 2nd gear , this is according to John Cope.
My trans guy says different and for the 10th time... If the trans does not shift on it's own i'll kick the guy out myself.. Illegal transmissions or valve bodys are not allowed in F/S, peroid!!

Dave your Bee is exceptional!!!! What has/will become of your black Road runner? Lastly is there any event or class in this type of racing that will allow a car with Headers instead of exhaust manifolds??

:3gears:The car does shift all forward gears when put in Drive. I am sure my old man would be glad to take you or anyone else for a ride at the june race to prove it.
