Hello all. I need tail light housing/bulbs for my 68 Skylark. I have 2 sets and both are corroded beyond repair. I'd like it to look original, but if there is a way to repair what I have and use the original wire harness, I'm all ears. Thanks, Dawn
Oh Fred, that would be fantastic. There is corrosion at the connectors on both sets in pretty much the same spot. I'd really like to get this project finished so my hubby can take her for a spin!
You are an awesome wife. I know I have seen some of these were the sockets were replaced. Some were truly awful looking (glued in plastic replacements) but other were pretty nice(metal sockets replaced. I have been able to polish the contacts and sockets in mine so they work AOK. I think the '68 and '69's are the same. If Fred doesn't have any, I would check with Cole...
I wouldn't say I'm an awesome wife, but I really do want this car finished and these lights are killing me. There is no "fixing" the ones I have...rusted connections that break off when the wire harness is disconnected. I either need intact functional housings or I need something to replace the sockets that I can wire into an original style harness somehow.
